Ew. Why is this a strategy @tryprofound - this is like fake reposts but grimier.

ChatGPT referral traffic is up 43% WoW! And in B2B, 131%. In B2C, it’s still a positive +38%. Across 50 client profiles and ~240,000 total ChatGPT referrals, there has been a significant uptick in traffic in the last week. That’s a great sign for search practitioners if it manages to keep up. The reason for the change? ChatGPT is suddenly deciding to link out in “best X” results rather than keep the traffic themselves. In my opinion, the reason for this is that ad clicks drive incentives. Their display ad model is not enough. A click model will drive more ad engagement, and it makes sense that the platform is changing to a model such that clicking is a default behavior for users in order to drive that behavior. That’s also generally a good sign for our universe as a whole – if ChatGPT has to adopt this to make the model sustainable, Gemini will (/kinda already does), and in turn Claude probably will, and etc etc from there. That’s a positive signal towards our open web being retained after all. Here’s hoping it continues from here.

If you're re-positioning your company, LLMs won't know for a very long time. This is a big problem for marketing teams. As an example, I just got a LI connection request saying they wanna follow me for CRO stuff. When I asked her who told her that I'm the CRO guy. The answer: ChatGPT. I've been out of the CRO game since 2016.
