As someone who made a decision to NOT endorse either run-off candidate for #Hoboken mayor, I find it puzzling & inappropriate that a former mayor who has lived in the northern Catskills in New York State for over half a decade now, would put their finger on the scale of a municipal election in a city and state where said former public official no longer lives. I congratulate and wish nothing but the best for @HobokenEmily, OUR new mayor-elect here in #Hoboken, NJ, but also wish that individuals no longer vested in our wonderful city would keep their noses out of our business & daily lives. #LetHobokenRunHoboken @MichaelRussoNJ @Tiffanie_Fisher @RubenRamosJr @presinzano4hob1 @mike_defusco P.S. Our new mayor would’ve won without your endorsement, and having given it will only prove to be divisive over the long run IMO.

A huge congrats to @HobokenEmily on your decisive victory! Hoboken clearly wants honest & responsible government. I am thrilled for you and Hoboken residents!

Sure - agree 💯. But isn’t it on Cuomo to convince Sliwa to drop out, not the other way around - since Sliwa is a legitimate primary winner of 1 of our nation’s 2 major parties, and Cuomo is not. Given this recent Marist poll 👇, both candidates will be beaten soundly without one dropping out and endorsing the other. Adams made the right choice for NYC (regardless of his motives). I pray Andrew Cuomo OR Curtis Sliwa will do the same, before it’s too late: maristpoll.marist.edu/polls/nyc-mayo…

For clarity — my prior correction noting that @Bronx_Science is a public school within the @NYCSchools was not, in any way, an endorsement of @ZohranKMamdani I believe Mamdami’s elevation to Mayor of New York City (@nycgov) would be a terrible development for our region. His refusal to walk back his “Intifada” comments, his rhetoric with antisemitic undertones, and his reckless suggestion of arresting Prime Minister Netanyahu all reflect an alarming disregard for both federalism and the responsibilities of leadership in a global city - the city that has been home to @UN headquarters since 1951. 🇺🇳 My views & concerns regarding this election align with the concerns @DonnieDeutsch recently expressed on @Morning_Joe. I would strongly encourage any friends who are NYC voters to support @CurtisSliwa instead of our Democrat nominee. As a transparent & open centrist, I have no problem supporting a Republican candidate if they are best suited to a role - blind party loyalty & tribalism is abhorrent IMO. However, Accuracy Matters 🤔— factually false attacks only weaken our legitimate criticisms of a highly flawed & deeply concerning candidate. We must be better if we are to prevail. NOTE: This post is being made via my personal phone during my lunch break, for the sake of timeliness. Opinions expressed here are solely my own. @HobokenTroll2 @BadHoboken @SmartyJones1 @HobokenMatters

Because it’s on Cuomo, as the primary loser of the two Mandami opponents, to extend the olive branch first. Either Republicans have to hold their nose and vote Cuomo OR Democrats, fearful of Mandami, have to hold their nose and vote for Sliwa. Neither candidate has a snow ball’s chance in hell of defeating Mandami in 4 weeks if the other doesn’t step away from the race and immediately and continuously urge his supporters to vote for the candidate who stays in the race, right up to Election Day and the polls closing.

@djmello @bronx_science @NYCSchools @ZohranKMamdani @nycgov Odd advice re Sliwa, David. Folks shld vote for him if they like him, but it's not a "stop Mandami vote. It's a protest vote. Unless anti-Mandamis hold their noses and vote Cuomo, Mandami will win easily. So a vote for Sliwa is effectively a vote for Mandami.

No worries. I should have added detail to that comment at the time. Glad for the opportunity to clarify. Also, let me further clarify that I would prefer @andrewcuomo over Sliwa. However, because Cuomo failed to win the nomination of his party (my party) in the NYC primary, I think it’s more on Cuomo to convince Sliwa to leave the race, than the other way around. @CurtisSliwa fairly earned his major party’s nomination. It’s on Cuomo to work with Sliwa and NYC Republicans to forge a shared path to victory. I just don’t see either candidate defeating @ZohranKMamdani, if one doesn’t leave the race and simultaneously, vigorously endorse the other. I want to also point out that my wife is Jewish, and I find Mamdani’s rhetoric on Gaza and Israel deeply offensive. It minimizes the horror of the barbaric attacks two years ago. Peace must begin with empathy for all victims. Further, Mamdani’s defense of campus protests misses a key truth: free expression on campus ends where fear begins. Jewish students deserve to attend class without intimidation — and leaders should say so clearly, especially when they aspire to be Mayor of a city that has nearly 1 million Jewish residents.

BREAKING: Instead of bringing Americans together, Trump just delivered one of the most divisive and disgraceful speeches by any president in the aftermath of someone’s death. He dishonors Charlie Kirk’s name by turning his passing into a rallying cry to smear Democrats. Notice how he had no such outrage when far-right extremists assassinated Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband.

Shocked and horrified as I absorb this tragic news. 🙏✝️ We must resist becoming a tribal nation where everyone lines up on one side or another & refuses to listen to or respect the points of view of their fellow Americans. #StopTheMadness 👇 nytimes.com/live/2025/09/1…
