Dolores Huerta has had nothing but praise for Cesar Chavez her entire life, then yesterday, she suddenly comes out with rape accusations from 60 years ago, saying she had kept it quiet to protect “the movement” and her “life’s work.” Today, several celebrations to honor Chavez are being renamed to honor her instead. This has been an incredibly quick cancelation of a public figure, happening the same day the allegations were made public. One of the lessons should have been that public figures should be more thoroughly vetted before being bestowed with honors. Instead, they are just jumping headfirst into venerating another problematic person.

I get the Left has their marching orders to push this response about Melania but it’s dumb. The reason Mamdani’s wife wearing $630 boots is news and Melania’s $1,450 dress isn’t is about who they are and who they portray themselves to be. Melania owns being wealthy and spending massive amounts of money on clothes. Shes a supermodel married to a billionaire and has never been shy about living capitalism and enjoying the benefits. Mamdani on the other hand calls himself a socialist. He’s dedicated to working against the wealthy and making everyone equal (at least that’s what he says). So when his wife is rocking the expensive stuff, while he preaches that socialism bullshit, that becomes news.
