EU leaders failed to persuade Orban to lift his veto of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine, and Slovakia joined the blockade – Politico. A 90-minute closed-door discussion on the loan during the European Council summit failed to produce a clear outcome, several diplomats reported. European Council President António Costa criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's behavior as "unacceptable" and a violation of the cooperation rules that form the foundation of the EU. Costa pointed out that no leader had previously crossed this "red line." He added that Hungary has access to alternative oil supply routes. Other European leaders supported Costa, while Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš distanced himself from both sides. The EU is a bunch of failures.
