@dk19346848 But yeah AI is a really great tool for game dev but you need to have at least a basic understanding of the subject. if I didn't have the theory of the LPV I probably never would have been able to explain the right things to Claude so that he could understand what he needed to do

Lot of small improvements have been made to the LPVGI Just like it’s better to have 2 cars for testing the handling model, working on both projects at the same time allows me to better manage the integration of the LPVs and the art style of my game 👀 #Godot

@HighGame_Dev damn interesting, so the main part of the racing game that is physics we have to do it by ourselves? and there AI can't help, and what about i want to add RTGI or RT reflection and so on in godot can i use AI to make it happen?

@dk19346848 For the LPVGI ? I know the technique and see how to implement them, but I don't have the technical skills so most of the code is written by Claude Opus and I’m making decisions while handling the "user friendly" aspects (export options, buttons, presets, ...)

@Olrak29_ @Kepler_L2 but then again,there are some cases like last of us part 2 had with 12gb vram gpus is it more of an optimization issue or the hardware itself? given how playstation abnormally uses very low vram to do what pc needs atleast 16gb.and does ps5 claws more gpu vram if need arises?>12?

He's all grown up, walking on his own 🥹🥲 I figured out better NPC navigation logic in #godot so they don't just hardline straight for the destination (a Node3D) but they assess available space and determine some intermediate stopping points on the way. #indiedev

@dk19346848 yeah sadly the more advanced NPC logic wasnt stable enough, they crashed out too much making you race alone most of the time :( sorry about that, will let you know when I finish the NPCs logic overhaul 🫡

When I worked on Crysis 2 (2009), we had Silhouette Parallax Occlusion Mapping (spom). It seems to be a hit with Crimson Desert's great implementation, so I wanted to bring that & a simple SSDM shader to UE4/UE5. I'm still working on it with a GFX engineer. Here's the SPOM *WIP

@f11bot how does even these racing ai works, from your implementatoin it felt like it just followed a path and doesnt deviate from it, if so it slowly goes to the path and hits the accelerator and tries to make up for the loss in position

@dk19346848 NPCs logic needs a overhaul honestly, for now there’s an option “NPC maxxed” that you can disable that makes them less aggressive, will release a quick update soon to make that option more clear 🫡

Added volumetric lighting to area lights and fixed ray traced reflections, they were ignoring scene lighting before (super bright all the time) Now I'm thinking I might keep working on this world and load into it from my car project, use it as a showroom or tuning shop.
