Guru Story - "Where the Common Meets the Divine, A Satsang That Awakens Bhakti" Excerpts of Satsang with Kashi Bhaiya @dkashikar “Often we indulge ourselves in organizing so much that we miss the true essence.” Guru Story Once at Boone Ashram, Gurudev was speaking about Spandakarika, the stanzas on pulsation or vibration. He said: “मुख्य रूप से दो तरह के स्पंदन होते हैं। एक सामान्य स्पंदन और दूसरा विशेष स्पंदन। सामान्य स्पंदन यानी परमात्मा और विशेष स्पंदन यानी जीव।” @Gurudev said: “Primarily, there are two kinds of pulsations. One is the common pulsation, and the other is the special pulsation. The common pulsation is the Divine (Paramatma), and the special pulsation is the individual soul (Jiva).” Hearing this, people said to @Gurudev, “Gurudev, perhaps it is the opposite. Special vibration should be the Divine, and common vibration should be the individual soul.” Gurudev replied with a gentle smile, “सामान्य यानी जो सब जगह है, और विशेष यानी जो कुछ जगह पर है।” @Gurudev replied, “Common means that which is present everywhere, and special means that which exists only in certain places.” Common is that which is everywhere. Special is that which is limited to a place. Kashi Bhaiya beautifully added, “What is that commonness that brings us together? We should not look for speciality in an individual, but for commonality in all.” He further shared, “When I met Gurudev for the first time and looked into His eyes, it felt like the very purpose of having eyes was fulfilled that day.” He reminded us that three things are obtained with great difficulty: 1. Human birth 2. Interest in spirituality 3. Meeting a Guru “सत्संग भक्ति जगाने का श्रेष्ठ तरीका है।” He emphasized, “Satsang is the most powerful way to awaken devotion.” And finally, a line that quietly stays with you: “पानी तो बहुत है, अपनी प्यास जगाओ।” The grace is already present. Only the longing has to arise. There is no shortage of water. What we need is the thirst.

Among women, after menopause, they say she has reached the ‘Rishi Panchami age.’ In colloquial expression, it meant a woman around forty-five would jokingly say, ‘I am at Rishi Panchami age.’ But on a spiritual level, Rishi Panchami signifies the transition from Grihastha Ashram (householder stage) to Vanaprastha Ashram (life of service and wisdom). After completing responsibilities at home and raising children, one dedicates life to higher service — spreading knowledge and fulfilling the obligation towards the Rishis.
