How could this happen shortly before departure when the original plane was scheduled to fly cargo to Honolulu? They would have had to completely unload all the cargo from the original plane and then reload, balance and fuel the accident aircraft. Something is wrong with this narrative.

New NTSB findings add key context to the UPS MD-11F Flight 2976 accident (Nov 4, 2025, Louisville). The crew was originally scheduled to operate SDF–HNL on aircraft N260UP (another MD-11F), with a three-person crew due to the long 9+ hour flight. During pre-flight checks, a fuel leak was discovered on N260UP, and maintenance deemed it unairworthy, forcing an aircraft swap. After roughly a two-hour delay reviewing a new flight plan, the crew was reassigned to N259UP (the accident aircraft), which was fueled and dispatched for the mission. Investigators note the operational change occurred shortly before departure.

@thenewarea51 30 minute final reserve plus maybe a 3 % enroute reserve and the gas to their alternate. If they were landing with much more than 5000 kgs, that would be a rarity.

Emirates flight from Dubai to Miami declares MAYDAY at Miami International Airport this morning for low fuel. EMIRATES 213 flt (Boeing 777-300ER) was on approach to runway 09 at MIA when they had to go around due to low visibility/wind shear due to thunderstorms. They requested to divert to Ft. Lauderdale but the controller said the weather was better for runway 12 at MIA. They then said they were declaring minimum fuel and wanted to try the approach to runway 12. Bad luck ensued, a 21 Air Boeing 767 (CSB5232) did not vacate the runway in time as flt 213 was on final and tower made the Emirates 777 go-around. Now the fuel state had obviously became critical hence the MAYDAY call. One has to wonder how low they really were on fuel when they finally landed on runway 12 on the 3rd attempt. Did they even have the fuel to divert to Ft. Lauderdale without any delays there? Audio via @theATCapp & tracking via @ADSBex

Before dawn over Armenia, the sky starts to look almost alive. This timelapse was captured westbound as we crossed one of the busiest, and most geopolitically sensitive pieces of airspace on Earth. To the south lies Iran. To the north, Russia. Between them, a narrow corridor through the Caucasus carrying hundreds of aircraft linking Europe, the Gulf, and Asia. Every light you see here is another aircraft, another crew, another story moving through the night. What makes it remarkable is the precision. At closing speeds approaching 1,000 mph, aircraft pass each other separated not by miles, but by carefully managed vertical layers of airspace. Invisible highways in the sky, built on GPS accuracy, disciplined procedures, satellite surveillance, and trust. And yet these routes are never static. Politics shapes them. Conflict bends them. Closed airspace redraws them almost overnight. What was once a straightforward great-circle route can quickly become a carefully threaded path between terrain, and diplomacy. From the cockpit, though, there’s a strange beauty to it all. Tiny lights crossing ancient landscapes. Modern aircraft moving through corridors shaped by geography and history alike. Controlled. Precise. Fleeting. A reminder that aviation is never just about the aircraft. It’s about learning how to move safely through an increasingly complicated world.

Ready to power this thing down and get some R&R. I honestly don’t know what was more stressful: the actual repos? Or producing a 45 minute documentary by myself over 3 days. 😵‍💫

Within less than 24 hours, the trump statue (in the most republican heavy area of Florida) was covered in trash, shitty diapers, toilet paper and piss. Gerrymandering, Elons money, killing mail in ballots and armed guards at voting booths isn’t going to make a fuck of difference.

Another early morning ferry ride in Hong Kong… I am looking forward to a hike today but my poor Scottish skin isn’t. Forecast 29C and high humidity will make it a tough one. Home this evening after a planned, but shorter than normal, layover in what is my favourite destination at the moment. If you could go anywhere, no barriers, where would you plan your next adventure to be? Mine… would be space 🧑‍🚀

In my opinion, yesterday a turning point in the war took place. Perhaps we still do not fully grasp the significance of what happened. For the first time, Putin publicly showed his weakness and inability to independently protect his capital, his parade, and himself from our strikes. Because of this, a frightened Putin was forced to publicly humiliate himself and ask Trump, as a mediator, to help stop a strike on Moscow. De facto, Putin asked Trump to protect him from the Ukrainians. I consider President Zelenskyy’s order a brilliant informational slap in the face and an additional public humiliation. It is obvious that before and during the parade, Putin was physically afraid - he felt vulnerable and threatened. Putin publicly appeared weak and humiliated, and in Russia’s "prison-style" political culture, such things are not forgiven. A weak "tsar," mocked by everyone, cannot remain a tsar in Russia. These are very, very hard times for Ukraine. However, Ukraine is strong, resilient, and continues the fight. Slava Ukraini!

Putin has arrived at Red Square. A massive security presence. It looks like there are almost as many guards as guests. Putin is afraid of his own people - that’s good.

🚨 DELTA PASSENGER BREACHES THE GATE AND TAKES OVER THE INTERCOM AT LAX — THEN THIS HAPPENS A video out of LAX is going viral after a Delta passenger grabbed the mic from behind the boarding gate and started making his own announcements. “Delta associates that aren’t paying attention… please come to 30B. You have a customer waiting.” He keeps going. • Repeats the call multiple times • Asks if anyone is even on shift • Calls out “customer service” over the loudspeaker • No immediate response from staff Passengers nearby just watch as he basically runs the gate himself. The internet is already reacting: • “Who is he? Upgrade him.” • “I honestly respect the f*ck out of this guy” • “Is Delta self-checkout now?” Did he cross a line… or do what was necessary when customer service failed? 📹: TikTok/marilyndelgado
