@thetundeo @dhh Yes...the coffee is VERY much an upgrade. I went on a whole journey a year or so ago down the espresso setup rabbit hole.
No credit to me for the XPS 14 Omarchy video. That goes to @dlippsYT for making that one.

For the first time in 17 years, I'm using a Dell laptop again.
When I started my business in 2009, It was on a Dell Latitude running Windows XP. I didn't expect to come full circle, but this new XPS is easily the best PC laptop I've used.
Paired with Omarchy, it's a sublime computing experience.

@nvietthu For the GPU - maybe a Radeon AI Pro R9700 (32GB), RTX Pro 4000 Blackwell (24GB) or RTX 5090 (32GB). The 5090 will outperform the B70 but for like 2-3 times the price 😬 the 270K plus is equivalent to the Ryzen 7 9700X or Ryzen 9 9900X, 9900X is pretty much identical.
English

@typecraft_dev Both are 🔥 it’s great to have so many options with the xps offering a premium MacBook like aluminum finish and the FW 13 Pro offering a more utilitarian vibe. Something for everyone here, a consumer win!

@stevenharms Statistically, recruiters still heavily rely on it, but cold applying is highly inefficient. While overall hiring's down also, the platform's real value lies in direct networking and being headhunted rather than submitting apps like years back.
English

@stevenharms LinkedIn used to be great for networking & landing jobs, but it’s genuinely tough to scroll. Between the endless AI engagement bait & heartbreaking wave of tech layoffs, it just doesn't feel like the helpful community it once was. Landed most of my roles there over the years.
English

@daco77 Really impressed I honestly didn’t expect it to be this good.
English

@iamtyrichards @dhh Feels identical to a MacBook, cold premium feeling aluminum.

"Year of the Linux Laptop: Omarchy on XPS. The Linux laptop moment has arrived. Inside Dell XPS, Omarchy, and the end of “wait for kernel support.”" Dell is leaning in! dell.com/en-us/blog/yea…

English

@SpencerGBull Thank you 🙏 much appreciated! Great laptop and love the out of the box Linux support! Also, battery efficiency is absolutely insane 🤯🚀

@thxforum @DamienRoualen The OLED and design, but also FW isn't available yet, and I missed the first like 6 batches haha
English

@dlippsYT @DamienRoualen Can I ask what was your reason for getting Dell XPS over the framework?
English

@markolo25 @dhh @MichaelDell I am looking forward to the fw 13 pro, I missed many of the batches though unfortunately but hopeful I'll get one to test out.
English

@alexandersix_ I really like the keyboard and the travel. It's up there with the keyboard on MacBooks for me, with the MacBook still having a slight edge.
English

@DamienRoualen Unfortunately not sure how much the $ would drop. Framework as an example, you select to bring your own OS it saves roughly 100-200$ BUT the laptop is still over $2000 and Dell has bulk pricing with MS. If Dell did, it likely only saves consumers ~$20–$60 USD, not the latter.
English

@dlippsYT Yes, that would be great. To avoid paying for something we don't use.
English

@DamienRoualen Unfortunately doesn't appear you can, that would be great.
English

@dlippsYT Can you buy the XPS without windows pre-installed?
English

@dhh @MichaelDell 💯 I have a Samsung G8 OLED also but it doesn’t even come close to the Studio Display. Would love to see more competition here from Dell and others.
English

@dlippsYT You gotta give it to Apple. They still make the most aesthetically appealing monitors. We need @MichaelDell to decide to give them some direct competition in the 27"/5K and 32"/6K retina class! A premium aluminum XPS class monitor would be so nice.
