Love time travel stories? Here's a unique one for you - Future In Doubt. What if a time traveler came back in time warning of a future apocalypse, but no one believed him, and then he died? Except for one fresh college grad named Essie... See replies for more.

You guys remember FarmFu Panda who told us all that farming didn’t need to be hard if you just make enough for yourself, your family, your community, and don’t worry about profit? He just posted this image of what he thinks that kind of “farm” looks like. 😀 That’s enough land to make some nice batches of salsa. 😀 I called it. This sanctimonious motherfucker would be dead in the first 24 hours on an actual farm.

@AlysssaHazel HmmmMMMMmmmn. That Juniper one sounds quite interesting. Is it done? I've got a long-gestating story that is currently a screenplay that I intend to turn into a novel that sounds like it has a couple things in common.

How I (as a Christian who writes Secular Content) approaches faith in my work; The Third Test - A teen who struggles in her faith encounters a blasphemous iteration of her religion. The Second Initiative - Same woman's faith is tested as she's falsely imprisoned The Juniper Duology - God feels absent post a devastating plague, imprinting hopelessness on the setting and cast. The lead character sets the plot in motion by grasping for a miracle despite the mockery of those around him.

I mean it unironically and without rancor when I say that THIS is why Christians and Conservatives cannot art. Putting in place the restraint "you must never challenge the audience's values" not only hampers true creativity, but also limits (and harms) the audience itself.

This is my DNF shelf on Goodreads. It's empty. Why is that? Because I'm an adult who doesn't make trophies of books I didn't finish. The site is called Goodreads...not Gooddidn'treads.

‘Shy Girl’ author releases statement after her novel was pulled amid allegations that she used AI to write it: “This controversy has changed my life in many ways and my mental health is at an all time low and my name is ruined for something I didn't even personally do.”

So.... Washington state charges $103 for a 6-year drivers license, and $137 for an 8-year one. The 8-year one costs.... more per year? Cause that makes sense.

@dmagillwrite @JasonWMizer I agree. But also, people should have more awareness. I once got a call from the IRS telling me that I owed over $4000 in taxes and they sounded very convincing. I simply hung up, called the IRS hotline, and found out very quickly I didn't owe anything.

Today at the bank, I watched the after-effects of a guy my age get cleaned out by phone scammers pretending to be the bank. I don't know how much he lost, but he was visibly shaking as he was talking to the people in the bank just trying to get his money back. Thinking he was 'protecting' his money, he fell for what's called the bank impersonation scam, "vishing". The man was practically in tears because you SCUM won't go earn a living without destroying someone else's livelihood. To the scammers: You're bottom-feeding parasites preying on fear. You ruin lives for quick cash. Karma's slow, but the feds are getting better at tracking you. Keep it up and enjoy prison. I hope you endlessly have to break big rocks into little rocks. 🧵

Another famous and yet horribly structured website with terrible and non-intuitive usability: Khan Academy. What a frustrating experience.

@dmagillwrite I have a scary thought: What if these detectors' true purpose is to feed your manuscripts to LLMs? Can you imagine the bunch of well-meaning, but paranoid writers using this stuff to proof their manuscripts against false accusations, only to be giving access to their material?

@dmagillwrite It can’t, AI writing is just predictive technology. In other words, we all have words in our vocabulary and we have to put them together a certain way for a sentence to make sense. AI knows that, too.

I have never been MAGA and never will be, and this is one reason. Like most of the far left, I can't truly be sure if many of them are being deliberately defiant and obstinent or if they're just stupid. Some are solid, but many really seem to be unable to see the obvious. The way Trump has handled the Epstein thing was entirely predictable, but they're acting like it's a betrayal. It may be, but only because they were so swooning over his every word that they couldn't see his very obvious flaws.

I have a theory that this MAGA exodus was planned the day Trump won. The Epstein files have proven to be anticlimactic (what has been released certainly doesn’t warrant the reaction) and the defections began well before the attack on Iran. None of their excuses make sense.

The next time some braindead tech support person tells you to "clear your cache" - which is their solution to everything - run for the hills. Unless you enjoy pain, suffering, frustration, and misery.

I wonder how many writers are viewed as overnight successes, that actually grinded in obscurity for years.
