BREAKING: The US and Iran are reportedly close to a deal of sorts. Tell me what it sounds like to you… Core terms under discussion reportedly include: Iran: Pause uranium enrichment, commit to no nuclear weapons development, accept expanded U.N. inspections, and limit activity at underground nuclear facilities. United States: Ease select sanctions and release portions of frozen Iranian assets. Both sides: Reduce restrictions and military pressure around the Strait of Hormuz. Yep. Obama’s Iran deal. The JCPOA.

Was just chatting with a friend who lives in Europe who told me it's illegal to hunt or fish anywhere in her country due to EU laws. There's nothing cool about the EU because they literally make it illegal to have fun or any kind of hobbies. Most lame and boring political project ever.

To members of the media: Please pay close attention to the ongoing Russian campaign of terror in Ukraine. Over the course of just over 24 hours, Russian strikes have claimed numerous civilian lives: - 7 people in Merefa (just outside Kharkiv) yesterday - 5 people in Poltava today (double tap targeted and killed firefighters) - 5 people in Kramatorsk - 12 people in Zaporizhzhia - 4 people in Dnipro just now All of these numbers still may update, unfortunately, since doctors are fighting for the life's of the injured. These strikes were intentionally launched on busy city streets in broad daylight to maximize casualties. These victims deserve to be remembered. This must be reported accurately, as a coordinated campaign of terror and murder, rather than isolated incidents that leave room for excuses.

There is a widespread disruption across Moscow: the internet is down, airports are shut, and payments are failing. More than a hundred flights are currently delayed or rescheduled in Moscow. Due to an air threat, nearly all airports in Moscow have been closed. Residents report that card payments are not working everywhere, and mobile service is intermittent. Taxis and ATMs are not operating.

@dmchammer1 @nialljburke Whatever is commercial as the demand sink. I have it in there in step2. It has serious RTE problems and leak problems. Let the wimd turbine parts manufacturers and developers solve the problem here by choosing *any* commercial demand sink to pair their technology with..

Here's a radical alternative plan for Ireland's energy transition: 💧1. Build new storage to match (and fix the problem of) the current level of GWh/day curtailment seen in @nialljburke's post. Preference to silvermines-type long duration pumped hydro storage plant / new Turlough Hill that will last >100years. 🚦2. Ban all new wind and solar farms unless they're built as "a hybrid" i.e. Each new MW capacity is matched with same MW battery demand or MW in flexible industrial demand (agnostic to tech here so incl. hydrogen, crypto, water desalination... whatever) Include offshore wind in that stipulation. ⚛️3. Create a 30-year programme to shut down all gas and oil fired plants in the country and directly replace with SMR Nuclear on *existing* sites. 🌿4. Supplement with new BiogasCHP builds. 🏡5. Accelealrated roll out of electrification (EVs, heatpumps, elec buses rail cooking etc) and legalise plugin solar for domestic use.

Irish wind farms lost 1,475 GWh to dispatch-down in 2025, according to @EirGrid published data. This animation covers 930 GWh of that, mapped across the 65 TSO-connected onshore wind farms. Ireland has around 330 wind farms in total. The rest are connected at distribution level and aren't captured here. Dispatch-down splits into two types. Constraints are localised. A line is congested, a farm gets cut. That's fixable with infrastructure investment. Curtailment is different. The grid hits a ceiling on how much non-synchronous generation it can safely carry at any one time, and wind gets cut fleet-wide regardless of location. Infrastructure doesn't solve that. You need inertia, storage, interconnection, or flexible demand. Watch how the signal shifts through the year. That shift from patchy local events to fleet-wide curtailment is the point. As wind penetration grows, curtailment becomes the binding problem. The character of the issue changes, and so do the solutions required. 1,475 GWh in a single year. That number will grow.

For the first time since the 1967 occupation, Israel is expelling an entire Palestinian neighborhood in Jerusalem. The Silwan area, located near the "Holy Basin," the Temple Mount, and al-Aqsa Mosque, is home to many archaeological and historical sites of exceptional significance. As of April 2026, approximately 1,800 residents in Silwan are under threat of expulsion, after hundreds have already been uprooted and left homeless in the past two years. In Baten al-Hawa alone, 33 families have already been expelled, and 53 additional families, including 130 children, face a similar fate. In al-Bustan, Israel has already demolished 48 homes and plans to demolish the homes of 123 more families, which will lead to the expulsion of approximately 1,450 people. The expulsion in Silwan is part of a policy of ethnic cleansing throughout the entire West Bank. Link to the full article >> btselem.org/jerusalem/2026…

I spoke today at the March for Life. This is not about shouting. It is about facing reality. Over 10,000 abortions took place in Ireland last year. Behind every number is a woman under pressure. Ask the real question. Why are so many women reaching this point? Housing. Cost of living. Fear. Lack of support. If those pressures remain, nothing changes. If we want fewer abortions, we must build a country where women feel safe choosing life. That means real support. Real responsibility. Real honesty. This debate is not over. Watch the speech below. #MarchForLife #ProLife #SupportWomen #Ireland

Nigel Farage has committed prosecutable election offences with this video under the Representation of the People Act 1983. The Act prohibits inducing voters through the threat of “temporal injury”, which includes material disadvantage such as the targeted imposition of government burdens. Threatening to specifically house illegal migrants in a constituency if it does not vote Reform is coercive and constitutes a criminal offence.
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

If you vote Reform you will not have an illegal migrant deportation facility in your area. We will hold migrants awaiting deportation in constituencies that vote Green instead. You get what you vote for.

@jimfitzpatrick The powers that be have been talking about offshore wind as museum for years They haven’t delivered- it’s the obvious solution turn excess wind energy into hydrogen and there’s always wind off the coast- now they want nuclear ☢️ Atom Raft

How would 50GW of renewables work with 12GW of 2050 demand? What is the cost involved in dealing with 38GW of oversupply? That would be > 2/3 of energy unsellable (neither a physical offtaker nor buyer) No country has done this kind of overbuild because projects that generate electricity need to sell MWh for revenue. You're not considering the hard economic limit, Enda. Growth in renewables have been 2000 to 2020 but if you look closer at the energy output data, and curtailment data, there are signs of flatline.. that make even the casual engineer sit up and ask about nuclear.

If you're casually pro-nuclear you must understand the criticism isn't ideological or a "culture war narrative" Its that in 25 years Ireland will install 40-50GW of renewable energy. And if we started now, nuclear generation would still be at 0 The time and cost is just too big

Stephen Kapos has attended every pro-Palestine march. He is Jewish and a survivor of the Holocaust. “We get the warmest, most enthusiastic response from the marchers. They are happy family events, nothing to do with hatred at all. It is a slur.” 🎯
