@StevenL57 I think it's neither - I think that since FSG is more committed to soccer than baseball, that Henry et al should find a buyer willing to invest in the long-term. The offers being made to players with upcoming contract renewals as well as to potential free-agent are not (more)

According to Chris Cotillo, he has been told by people that have an understanding of the Theo Epstein/Fenway Sports Group arrangement that part of the reason he was brought back was because ownership has acknowledged they haven’t give the Red Sox the attention they deserve in recent years as FSG has grown. While it had been a frustrating offseason, this is insanely good news to hear. Hopefully it means a nudge in the right direction towards getting some signings done this offseason, like Jordan Montgomery, and maybe even Jorge Soler.

I don’t think we talk enough about how discouraging an offseason this is for the current players on the Red Sox roster. Why would THEY want to give it their all when the front office clearly isn’t? This is a complete mess for everyone involved.

Chaim Bloom gets fired. Sam Kennedy then promoted Brian O’Halloran to Vice President of Baseball Operations. Eddie Romero, Raquel Ferreira, and Mike Groopman all keep their Assistant General Manager positions. This ensures that all of them are UNFIREABLE. At least 10 highly regarded MLB executives (see attached tweet) across several teams reject the invitation to interview for the vacant GM job. Craig Breslow emerges from a historically WEAK field of candidates. Like Chaim Bloom…. Breslow is the only FIREABLE executive in the front office. Breslow very possibly has the LEAST amount of authority and influence of any prior CBO/PBO/GM in Red Sox franchise history. The same pattern of brutal incompetence has raged on since his hiring. The common denominator appears to be Sam Kennedy, who by all outward appearances became very powerful once Dave Dombrowski was fired. Also became a part owner within the Red Sox ownership group in 2021. What’s important to note: Kennedy can literally take credit ZERO success in any of the Red Sox four world championships. Three of them were won before he arrived. And the foundation for 2018 was put in place before he arrived. Final question: Howcome after Mike Hazen, literally no MLB teams come calling for any of our “brilliant” baseball executives?
