For anyone that hasn't been in an abusive relationship before, let me explain, in my opinion, what her statement is really saying: 1. frames her as the victim ("Jimmy and Aidan flipping on me is painful") 2. admits fault only to excuse it as provoked ("I am not proud of my counter-punching... I will continue to be provoked") 3. invokes mental health to deflect scrutiny 4. cuts off direct messages to control what criticism reaches her 5. retreats to a loyal in-group ("besties and bunnies") that's unlikely to challenge her (enablers). Accountability avoidance is the goal. The root issue is a fragile self image, discomfort with vulnerability, a desperate need to control. With her conflict is seen as danger instead of an opportunity to learn and grow. People like this, in my opinion, are dangerous to be around or be influenced by. They just are.
