"Additionally, according to the Alberta Major Projects portal, the proposed Pathways Phase 1 CCUS project carries a price tag of $16.5 billion. This raises an important question: how much greater value —in terms of emission reductions, economic growth, job creation, and technological leadership — could be created by deploying this capital into proven, scalable technologies such as NCG co-injection, solvent-assisted recovery, and other operational optimizations that are already delivering strong results today?"

You can now listen here to my open letter to Pathways CEOs to reconsider the BS carbon capture project. As a shareholder I am NOT paying for it, as a taxpayer I am also NOT paying for it.🫡🪒

The 'remain' side needs to come up with evidence that Canada can change course, evidence that Ottawa and other provinces will adjust their behaviour in their relationship with Alberta. So far, the 'remain' side has arguments based on nostalgia ("but Canada is a great country") or resentment ("how dare you want to leave this abusive relationship")

IMO, there 's no point in arguing with hard-core separatists in Alberta and counter-productive to inflate their views as those of most Albertans. The 'remain' side needs to appeal to those inclined to stay in Canada but frustrated by their historical relationship with the feds.

@kevin_inalberta Why is there no effort to reach out to any of our newer immigrant groups ( People with South Asian, South East Asian, African and many other ancestries? There can be a majority without this.

Keep following this path if you want the independence movement to remain a highly motivated and angry minority. You need the majority of Albertans' support or independence is going nowhere. This isn't the way. Die-hards for independence seem to lack a theory of mind for the fence-sitters and maybes that they need to convince to vote for independence.

@LeclairLar @kinsellawarren @ABDanielleSmith An extremely small number of people in Alberta's independence movement want to be governed by Washington DC. The number is so insignificant that I am left to wonder how the idea was so easily lodged into your brain. Clearly, Ottawa's propaganda works well on you.

As some followers know, I’ve spent the last year liquidating my business and selling assets to move everything west. Tomorrow, I land in Alberta. Not for a visit. For good. I wasn’t born there, but that’s where I’ll make my last stand. I’ve burned my ships. I’m all in. Amen.

It's amazing to watch over the past month, in particular, how much time and resources MSM poured into bashing Albertans and Alberta because of the independence movement. Platforming every irrelevant mouthpiece to tell everyone how bad a democratic process is and insult everyone, including Premier Danielle Smith and call her a separatist without anyone fact checking it once that she is not. I've never seen MSM put even 10% of the effort to hold the Liberal government accountable to why we have record homeless, why we have double digit youth unemployment, why 1/3 of Canadians need help affording food, why we have a lost decade, why our government are putting us in record debt with no way to pay for it. It's just solidifies the problem with Canada's culture; most Canadians will spend more effort attacking these who want to better themselves and their situation rather than actually face the truth and address what is actually happening in their country to fix it and build a better life and society for themselves.

There can be no reconciliation without truth. Using taxpayers' money to demonize and ridicule Canadians is intolerable. The Kamloops mass grave story lacks evidence. Until evidence is unearthed, it is a heinous lie meant to demonize Canadians as perpetrators of "genocide" APTN should advocate for truth rather than racist revionist history.

An Indigenous-led, satirical show production has been paused over controversy from guests who say they felt misled. Niigaan Sinclair says the issue has given fodder to those who spread misinformation about residential schools. Watch more Truth & Politics: youtu.be/_pE77Z6hhsE

If Alberta becomes independent but retains a weak constitution and a broken Parliamentary system, then it will all have been in vain. The most likely form will be a constitution that limits the power of government, protects inalienable rights, and upheld by a President as head of state, balanced by a house of representatives, and an independent judiciary. If a Senate at all, then an elected Senate.

@lamphieryeg @jkenney Just curious…..If Alberta became a country do you think they would have a PM or President and who do you believe voters would vote at the helm?

This is laughable, coming from someone who has been winking at the MAGA-aligned separatist movement for years. People who are losing sleep over climate change are not the ones tearing our country apart: we’re trying to save it. This summer Canada could well be burning faster than we can build it.
Scott Robertson@sarobertson_

Danielle Smith lashes out at “the 14 cowards who signed a letter to the PM trying to derail our MOU,” along with NDP leader Avi Lewis and BC Premier David Eby, accusing them of “creating the environment we find ourselves in” when pressed if she is to blame for the state of national unity.

@cspotweet Which is it? 50 or 100? That's quite a spread. Is he that bad at estimating? Does he not know the cost of previous electoral processes? Does he just get to throw numbers around an journalists just nod and parrot?

"This referendum will cost Alberta taxpayers anywhere between 50 and 100 million in dollars in cash, and I'd rather have that in hospitals and schools myself." Naheed Nenshi asked about the referendum question itself, adding he hopes for a resounding vote against separatism.

@Smileyyeg It is well understood that a lot of work and campaigning will be needed. A lot of conversation with fence-sitters. And, most importantly, a lot of work to overcome the torrent of disinformation.

It doesn't matter. Do separatists honestly not understand that they are going to have to convince 50% of the population to want this? Has that somehow been lost on them?
Angela Tabak@AngetheBrave72

@PardyBruce @DenZuzana @IGBecker200 This, and the requirement to get to an actual referendum on independence just went from a petition with 179000 signatures to now 50% of the vote in a referendum on if we should have a referendum.

Smith is being smart. By having a referendum on whether to hold a referendum, she makes a two step process, that if it succeeds, will be undeniable. She has also created a release valve for anger and anti-Canada sentiment in Alberta: A person can vote to field the question as a protest without pulling the trigger to separate. The first referendum will be likely to succeed: many will want to protest by holding a referendum on separation, and many others will have a moral belief that Albertans should have a say. The second referendum? Lot of days between here and there.
