A rush and a push and the land that we stand on is ours, it has been before, so it shall be again.

If you can't afford to pay your staff a living wage you shouldn't be in business.
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@PeterMcCormack @ZackPolanski It's not been chosen for any economic reason, it's to incentivise those who are on 12-13 pounds an hour to vote for them on the promise of what they think will be a big pay rise, but neither the Greens or the people they're courting understand 2nd or 3rd order consequences at all

Why £15 Zack? Why not £20? Can you explain why a fixed minimum wage is better than a rate from the market, and if it is £15, how did you come to this number? I know you won't answer because you are economically illiterate and you just pull stupid ideas from thin air. So let me clear, failing to understand economics and driving forward vibes based policies which are destructive is an act of evil. History is littered with people like you. You have all had the same impact.

The Mail doesn't think seem to think workers, of all ages, are worth £15 an hour. That's fair pay for a fair day's work, with money workers will put back into the economy. We are the party for workers. Vote Green on 7th May.

It’s over, you solved the ‘migration crisis’. Your country was basically fine, there was a vote, the crisis was resolved, things continued to be basically fine. What an anticlimax! You return to your boring but basically fine of life high GDP, luxury brands and fresh mountain air
ɖʀʊӄքǟ ӄʊռʟɛʏ 🇧🇹🇹🇩@kunley_drukpa

>swiss think immigration is too high >propose referendum to limit immigration >government accepts proposals >holds referendum to limit immigration >limit immigration vote wins >government limits immigration >central issue of C21st western politics instantly solved >it’s that easy

@AcademicAgent_X English clubs won 7 of the 8 European Cups from 77 to 84, quite a feat considering the poor record of the England national team at the time...

I knew the root of the English word for "Wales" was a Saxon one meaning "Romans", or just "foreigners", but I didn't know until today that the Welsh word for Wales - Cymru - means the exact opposite, "fellow-countrymen"

Such a great line here from Mr Hitchens - I would love to hear him loudly declare the line 'Why do people drink these thin infusions?' somewhere just once...

The 1995 Morrison Motorsport Corvette ZR-1s are well known, but small detail about them is they ran 2 different configs. At the 1995 Daytona 24 the #94 ran the normal roofline while #96 had lower roof and more raked windshield, which was kept for the SCCA World Challenge season

Look, even if there is a case, a REAL case, for allowing MPs to drink in their work breaks before returning to vote, it is utterly indefensible that they drink at a rate subsidised by you & me. All the fancy food is one thing, but tax payer funded booze is just a joke.
