@TonyDowson5 You are right. Infanticide is also a meaningless legal term. Outside the womb it’s murder or manslaughter. This change in legislation is the worst of all worlds because it removes any penalty from an act it’s almost impossible to do legally.

"If she was to do this at home (wholly unprecedented) and the fetus was viable, it would come under infanticide." Not true - what's being decriminalised is section 58 of the Offences Against the Person Act. Infanticide doesn't apply to destruction in the womb.
Madelaine Hanson@MadelaineLucyH

Wrong. There is NO legal pathway or clinical precedent for a healthy woman with a viable pregnancy to obtain an elective abortion at 9 months in the UK. Late-term abortions are tightly restricted and only permitted in serious medical circumstances. If she was to do this at home (wholly unprecedented) and the fetus was viable, it would come under infanticide.

@realMaalouf I think saying “He sits there terrified not knowing what to do” is an exaggeration. There are 3 armed protection officers and just one very loud mouth shouting.

BREAKING: Australian Prime Minister Albanese went to a Sydney mosque for Eid prayers to stand against Islamophobia, only to end up being threatened, with everyone screaming “Allahu Akbar” at him. He just sits there terrified, not knowing what to do.

@iancharris @ColinBrazierTV Indeed it is. But don’t forget only around 9k British soldiers landed on the Falklands. I don’t think anyone would argue that wasn’t a full scale military operation.

Today is the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. As we crossed the border in darkness, military and media alike, we little knew this would be - as now looks certain - the last time the British Army could deploy meaningful numbers to fight a war.

@sergeantdixie @ColinBrazierTV Generally no more than 10,000 to 15,000. More a cover for the Americans. Approximately 46,000 in Iraq at the start.

@ramonagusta His mother was American. Surely what we need is tighter qualification for citizenship. But my view has always been you can only have one level of citizenship. You can’t tell people they are British but don’t have the same rights as other Brits.

@sergeantdixie You make a good point. Was his mother born in USA? There has to be some kind of quality test. In your case, I'd say you pass of course... but look at the list... not good.

@paulwaugh Farage has advocated for health care systems seen across the world many of which operate far more efficiently than the NHS. Idolising the NHS stops reform from happening meaning it simply gets worse.

Kemi Badenoch's decision to throw her weight behind Nick Timothy is a defining moment. The Tory party under her leadership is a cesspit of Islamophobic hatred and racist bigotry. My new column for Middle East Eye: middleeasteye.net/opinion/nick-t…

@DominicFarrell It staggers me how many people claim Iran isn’t an enemy & “it’s not our war”. Counter terrorist teams have foiled numerous plots originating in Iran. They fire ballistic missiles at allies, threaten British shipping directly & through proxies. They are an enemy.

@SteveVanquish @Mr_Andrew_Fox That is very true. My brother was a ships captain who went to the gulf numerous times in the 80’s during the last war & he said it was nerve wracking.

@sergeantdixie @Mr_Andrew_Fox Which is my point. It is very hard to close off. But also very hard to get through and if you try expect big trouble. Trouble that is quite easy for them to generate.

@GBNEWS Good old international law. Cyprus & UK sign a treaty giving sovereignty to military bases on Cyprus but now Cyprus & the EU want to scrap it. This is the organisation Labour wants to get close to. They are not our friends.

@NormanBrennan I’ve spoken to 2 officers who were at that vigil. She was warned multiple times by the police & organisers not to make it a demonstration as it was a quiet vigil during Covid restrictions. She ignored them and after getting arrested the Met folded & paid out. She’s a disrupter.

Not sure someone who attended a Vigil for a murdered victim with a loud speaker & turned it into public disorder got a pay out for your antics cos police are stupid like that & then state ACAB; then don’t be too surprised if you’re told to piss right off police want nothing to do with you!🥾👋

@Stuartpb1 @cyclist_andyc Actually it is. He made a mistake, no one got hurt and an apology was offered. Only a complete & utter arsehole who thinks they have never made a mistake in their lives would think this wasn’t ok.

1 of Got very close passed approaching a roundabout today. I shouted, driver stopped & beckoned me to the drivers side window. Thought we were ready to rumble 😂, but he apologised saying he was looking to see if the roundabout was clear, so hadn’t seen me & then heard me shout.

Folks want to use China as the gold standard and metric for all things nuclear. Should we do that with wind? Because they can go from blueprints to delivery, construction, and power in three months. The did 17GW from 3,400 units in 2021 alone. ...or is China an unreasonable example?

The cheap green lie You are told that solar and wind are cheap But you need near-100% backup when no sun or wind, paying for two systems Data for 2024 shows that cramming in more solar and wind makes electricity overall more and more costly iea.org/data-and-stati… Threads&refs: x.com/BjornLomborg/s…

The lie at the heart of net zero. This clearly shows the greater the amount of “net zero” generation the greater the cost of energy generation across the grid. Of course none of it is really net zero.

@PeregrinePulp @BjornLomborg I’m sorry but on what planet do you live? It takes years to construct wind farms. I live in East Yorkshire which has the most extensive offshore wind farms in Europe & it’s been a decade long programme. Do you think they just plug it into the grid?

@BjornLomborg If you exclude the fact that it takes a decade or two longer to get nuclear approved, built, and up and running (with no back-up) then this makes sense. It looks to me like wind can be erected and generating power (and revenue), even out at sea, in weeks rather than decades.

@SteveVanquish @Mr_Andrew_Fox Both the Germans & British navies used the channel. The famous Op Cerberus of 1942 being legendary in that respect. There simply wasn’t the technology to monitor the channel to close it off. It certainly wasn’t business as usual but neither was it anywhere near closed.

@history99917180 My cousin was a traffic skipper who parked up on an M62 hump on nights & fell asleep. He would have gotten away with it had it not suddenly started to snow heavily & his Volvo turned into an igloo.
