This will be my 17th Christmas sober - day at a time. If this is your first sober Christmas here are some tips for staying sober this holiday season: 1. Bring your own minerals or water 2. Bring chocolate - sugar helps with cravings. 3. Have a phone number of a friend who is also sober and give them a call. 4. Organize a meet up with a sober friend after dinner or in the evening if possible. Tips as a host: 1. Ask the person what drink would they like and if they would mind if you had a drink at the dinner. Most of us in recovery would rather you enjoyed your drink. 2. Plan a walk together after dinner or some activity that doesn't involve alcohol 3. Treat us normally. Enjoy your holidays and remember you are not alone. There are many of us who are out there and will support you. We not a glum lot just because we don't drink. It gets easier day by day. Well done. #recoveryposse #dayatatime #sobriety
