Humanist. Anaesthetist. I am a sample size of one, not statistically significant, nor representative; an ounce of perception, a pound of obscure.

@doctorhelgi Right or wrong, I can’t see the basis for this advice. Seems like absence of evidence of benefit rather than evidence of absence of benefit for both gowns & headwear, yet opposite advice for each. x.com/NicholasChrime…
Nicholas Chrimes@NicholasChrimes

So, while there are almost no studies evaluating the impact of gowns during spinals, 78% concluded they aren’t important. Meanwhile, there are zero studies evaluating the impact of of headwear during spinals but 81% concluded they ARE important. This doesn’t feel like science.

@IM_Crit_ What fraction of this haemorrhage management is evidence based? Did you seek advice from your senior colleague? And if the senior colleague has validated this management, then like @IM_Crit_ , I too have a lot of questions…

@myobstetrician We pay for their inaction! The best part is no one can decipher for what and how much you get paid for on from your payslips. 🤷🏻‍♂️

#NHS is very good at paying incorrectly. Consultant Job plans can never be done prospectively. I’ve been paying arrears for years. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

How is management of cardiac arrest due to LAST (Local Anesthetic Systemic Toxicity) different from ACLS guidelines and why? Why is use of "a lower dose" of epinephrine recommended in LAST in ASRA 2020 guidelines? Why do you run for intralipid (20%) first? Read a detailed and compiled explanation here: share.google/7gNp3ZfNAsOtt3… #anesthesia #ASRA #RegionalAnesthesia

One really subtle sign? They’re incredibly reliable… but never ask for help. They show up. They deliver. They’re “fine.” Bills paid, jokes intact, responsibilities handled. From the outside? Solid. Inside? Exhausted, overwhelmed, barely keeping their head above water. A few other quiet tells people miss: •They downplay everything with humor: “It’s nothing, I’ll manage.” •They’re always busy not productive-busy, avoidance-busy. •They give great advice but never apply it to themselves. •They disappear socially, then resurface like nothing happened. •They rest, but never feel rested. •They’re high-functioning… only because stopping feels dangerous. The scariest part? People assume they’re strong, so no one checks in and they don’t want to be a burden.

@piersmorgan My professional advice: physio, physio and more physio. And then some more. Keep your pain under control - multimodal analgesia (google it). High protein diet. Keep on top of your electrolytes and vitamins. Most important: willingness and attitude to get back on your feet.
