@jdpoc No, our joiners at work all left the heads of screws at a different angle, boss straight, then round a few degrees for the others. So they each knew who had worked on each item.

Hey @Ed_Miliband retired mine worker here, well done for MPS can we be treated equally (BCSSS member)
Ed Miliband@Ed_Miliband
The government should not be in the business of profiting from the Mineworkers Pension Scheme. There has been deep unfairness and injustice in the Conservative Government's approach. Labour will make sure miners get their fair share of the money. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

@SpitfireSteve A mate of mine became a designer for British Leyand Buses after he graduated. Later he became a maintenance manger for a major bus company. He would agree totally with you.

@C_meneer @onebiglizard Probably manage about 5 to 10 minutes on a full charge.
English

@jdpoc @benonwine Tbh, if you put a bit of thought into it, that’s how it should be.
English

Postscript : @benonwine will be registering for these Benefits this week and will find out how cuts affect real people in the real world.

@drchrisnewton I had a good 70s, left school, got a job (offered several), bought a car, got a degree, got married, bought a house, became a Dad. In those days just took problems in my stride. Would be hard for someone who was 16 in 2020 to achieve as much.
English

This is an interesting question. It seems like we’re spiralling downwards like never before, but some of us don’t have the experience of living in the 1970s to have some real sense of proportion or perspective.
Dan Salt@Danjsalt
I'm 44 years old - so I have no memory of the 70's - did the country feel so utterly broken then? It's a serious question - I'm curious

@creatorschmidt I do worry that for years I thought managing on 6 hours sleep or less was ok, it was part of the ‘macho’ culture at the time.
English

@GroomB They’ll be around 60 years old now, probably part of the establishment. Worrying about the “youth of today”.
English

@CF_Compss You only have to look at the lines, they’re 6 yards wide.
English

They honestly all need demoting
He starts his steps ahead of the ball, then proceeds to draw the line about another step further away from his 10th and last step

The Arsenal wall was 11.2 yards out when the free-kick was taken. Anthony Taylor took 11 steps, not 10. Great ref.

I`m still not at 100% convinced this is actually the real anniversary of the Spitfires first flight (there is some cause for debate, although most sources do say its today)... but anyway...
Whilst everyone likes posting the "pretty" prototype, and Mk1, I`ve always preferred the "thug in a dress" appearance of the later Griffon engine variants.

William Gladstone resigned as prime minster #OTD in 1894. Born in Liverpool to Scottish parents, he was the 19th century's dominant politician, serving four terms totalling 12 years as PM and was four times chancellor of the exchequer, serving more than 12 years.

@thomasforth @Dr_Aust_PhD Think this shows it well, we desperately need better transport connections.

@aohereng Hmmm, can easily think of 4 instances
Domestic heating, clean air act made people rip out serviceable fires.
Factories, many steam engines ripped out and replaced with electric.
Navy, steam turbines replaced reciprocal engines, many ships scrapped.
Aircraft, jet replaces recip.

@nickfshort I've read Ben Macintyre's "A Spy Among Friends". A brilliant book it is. It's truly nightmarish that in England at that time, Philby and the entire Cambridge Five could work for the Soviets for such a long period and ultimately escape justice. They all deserved the rope.
English

In case you missed it, Philby was a despicable, lying, murderer and traitor. He deserved the rope in my view. The only good news is that his life in Moscow was sh*t. KGB didn't fully trust him, which was rather ironic. A complete a***hole.
