@AshleyBurkeCBC Sounds like a decent person, despite how the CBC portrays them all and their supporters. Nice to see you share this though.

My phone autocorrected the spelling of Tyson's name when I took down his name & typed it into my phone. His last name is spelled "Gareau". He's from Atikokan, Ontario.

CBC’s van slide off the road & got stuck in a ditch beside the protestors’ camp in Arnprior. A demonstrator named Tyson Garneau wearing a “defund the CBC” hat pulled us out knowing we were CBC journalists. He said he’d never leave anyone stuck like that.

@jiggs_mcgraw @AshleyBurkeCBC So that justifies the actions downtown? Torture and being held hostage is never an answer. Don't talk about extreme measures because those means do not justify the end.

@davidpugliese Because there was no law to enforce. There is a reason they are calling it unlawful vs illegal, as there was nothing illegal. Feb 16th a judge even told them they had the right to continue their protest. Which law was the OPS then supposed to enforce?

A number of former police chiefs have been on CBC TV today providing commentary about how professional police are in moving slowly and methodically against Ottawa protesters. There has been little mention of lack of law enforcement action in the three weeks leading up to this.

@kenruthrfrd @bdmbdmbdm @RebusReginald @jonkay I had read (can't confirm it) that those regs had been temporarily suspended for a while to allow them to do more hours due to the supply chain issues. Still don't agree with the tweet your replied to, but just letting you know

someone I know here in Toronto, a very smart and accomplished person who's done more with their life than I ever will, just confidently asserted that trudeau was correct not to meet with the truckers because "they would have killed him." Putting aside how crazy this is....

Iconic photo from this past weekend when cops cleared out the protestors with cops mounted on horses trampling through the crowd. Glad to know @CandySero_ (pictured in the red jacket) is recovering well and is tweeting.

"Non-affiliated" Senator Marilou McPhedran says that elements inside the freedom convoy were "publicly proclaiming that they want a racial war" and that "if there isn't a racial war then we will all soon be forced to speak hebrew."

@velopajaro Anybody know where this John Swyndon is from (if it is even a real name?). He should be included in police reports filed for this cybercrime. @OttawaPolice

@velopajaro I was thinking the same thing when a friend sent it to me - the amount of support, even in downtown Ottawa. And most of those I know that supported the protestors didn't even donate, so there are many more supporters.

An individual or a group of individuals are putting up posters around the Ottawa area with the names and email addresses of residents that donated to the Freedom Convoy cause. The posters also include the donation amount.

@Shane_at_CP @TristinHopper The fact that they happened means someone fudged the majority voters numbers to give the go ahead. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to know that. Idiot.

One of the things Canadian history often leaves out is that in the periods we've been committing our worst historical crimes (internment, residential schools, eugenics, Head Tax, etc.) these were wildly popular policies supported by a substantial majority of voters.

@JohnPaolozzi @TrueNorthCentre "Honk" isn't even remotely German.... So one person on reddit said it a few years ago so must be true? Tried to find anything of substance in that link but didn't?

@TorontoStar An Ontario court on Feb 16 reconfirmed the protestors rights to continue peaceful protest, so definitely not illegal. It is not the PM that decides on his own what is illegal and what isn't. "Unlawful" is something completely different, and that is why the Ottawa Police use that

Donations to the convoy made in Ontario officers' names were small, ranging from $20 to $200, and all were made on or after Feb. 5 — by which time the prime minister and Ottawa’s police chief had declared the protests “illegal” or “unlawful.” thestar.com/news/investiga…

@Ingemar4910 @anthonyfurey Politics are making these decisions, not public health. Our medical officers of health are in appointed positions, after all, and subject to politics. That is why long-term public health consequences are being ignored in favour of short term virtue signaling.

@John84448901 @GG37374104 Occupy Ottawa had a tent city in 2011 for around six weeks as well. Ottawa also had up to 30,000 Tamil protestors waving Tamil Tiger (terrorist) flags for two weeks in 2008. The difference is the truckers were having too much fun in the City that Fun Forgot.

@AlexpiersonAMP @MichaelChongMP Only problem is we need to then outlaw fireworks downtown on Canada Day and other holidays since they are such a threat ;) Pre-WFH times Wellington St was nothing but diesel fumes from lines of buses. I'll be honest that when I was downtown I did not notice the diesel.

@SianMorris20 @AlexpiersonAMP @LeahGazan She is focusing on the "white supremist" red herring. There were no guns or violence downtown. An Ontario Supreme Court judge deemed the Ottawa protest legal on Feb 16th. But someone in Oshawa of course knows better what happened here, right? Obviously you were never there.
