If you are running a #Dogecoin node, please upgrade to version 1.14.9. This will improve the network's reliability. I am prepared to make the ULTIMATE sacrifice: I will not eat cannoli until most of you have upgraded to Dogecoin Core 1.14.9. My life depends on you.

So, running a #dogecoin node most days is just set and forget. But if you are running one, it's important to keep up with updates. 1.14.9 was released two weeks ago. We had lots of uptake, but the update was also ignored by a considerable amount of node operators who figured they knew better. Community movement is a critical component in distributed and decentralized networks. Developers can do the thing, but then the community has to accept or reject it. (This is why previous FUD about algorithm changes being 'forced' are completely ludicrous.) The numbers being talked about, while sensational, aren't wholly accurate. But this should send a message that if you're running a node full time, you need to keep it updated. Hopefully the result of this is folks actually updating. In the future I'll try to help by being louder about releases; but my megaphone and platform is tiny.. Updating the network should not rely on social media popularity. So stay informed by subscribing to GitHub notifications; but don't wait for your fave influencer to tell you if it's important. That's voluntary centralization. Yeah I know I know; Ideals are almost never attained. But if you run a node, pay attention to releases. That's all.

Dogebox-0.02-dev-alpha Release This is our second alpha release of Dogebox, it introduces: - Pup source management - Dependency management - Pup metrics 0.1 (those little graphs) - Pup live container logging - Dogecoin Core Pup (preview, but works) - Pup container environment enhancements (see changelog, ENV vars injected from user config etc) - Internals: Nix rebuilds now no longer stomp each other - Many minor bug fixes Check the release page for more info and what's coming next week as we move toward beta: github.com/dogeorg/dogebo… Huge shout out to the whole @DogecoinFdn team who have been working day and night this week, and to the many Shibes who have been helping test these images.

Dogecoin Dogebox dev update: We're aiming to drop some alpha Dogebox (vmware/proxmox/raw) images this Friday, for the purpose of letting the community see what we're working on, with RC releases by the end of the month 🔥 Source: code.dogecoin.org OR github.com/dogeorg/ What to expect: - working setup experience / master key gen - working control panel - install 'pups' + start/stop/monitor What will be broken/missing: - wifi setup (not needed on VM anyway) - ARM install images (RK3588 / RPI) - Dogecoin Core (still being packaged as a pup) - ability to add new pup sources (UI)(github, etc) - developer documentation - doge map pup (90%) - doge identity pup (80%) - Unknown unknowns This is not a 'release', RC1, 2 etc will come later this month and be much more feature complete, but we wanted to get nightly builds available for people to try out and test if they are technically minded / curious!

The @DogecoinFdn Dogebox project isn't just a Dogecoin node in a Linux box.. it's much, much more ambitious than that. When people start to see it in action they are going to realise it's a platform for the development of a decentralised internet, complete with: - cryptographic identity (real or pseudo-anon) - inherent dogecoin payment layer - extensible, decentralised network model for any protocols - decentralised code distribution system / app store - a global ecosystem built around Dogecoin .. and more to come, a platform for everyone, censorship resistant, open source, forever more.

You can now find the fully decentralsed code repositories for Dogebox at code.dogecoin.org on our shiny new @radicle seed node. Check out what the team are working on, and pretty soon we'll have an alpha release folk can run in a VM before the first hardware release in a few months.

Currently Dogebox is the major focus, not every project is listed here (yet!) but we're working to bring most things into this over time. We're actively using this live document so it will change day-to-day, we're sharing this with everyone in the interests of keeping folks informed, and building in the open.
