@ruskin147 Our rescue from Romanian was a consummate escape artist. A very different character to Sophie, she saw every fence as a personal challenge. But the panic I felt at every escape, was the same as yours. 9 years on, there is some bonus to a slight loss of agility in her back legs.

@ruskin147 @sociabledog So wonderful to see. Our Romanian rescue was an absolute Houdini at slipping her halter when she got spooked. We had to have a halter and a slip lead on. Although Sophie looked nervous she didn’t look ready/wanting to flee. Think this shows which her trust in you.

We’re very proud of #sophiefromromania but also aware that there is a long way to go before she is really confident about going out walking. Thank you so much for all of your support which is meant a lot to us and a special thanks to @sociabledog who made this possible

At 0730 this morning the prof and I put #sophiefromromania in the car and took her to a local park for her first ever walk. More details tomorrow

My beautiful, best beloved Mama Rose went on an hour ago. She had been abused, used as a fighting dog, breeder dog and bait dog then dumped, heavily pregnant on the road with her mouth duct taped shut. My friend rescued her and I adopted her and one of her puppies. She was the strongest, smartest, most elegant and beautiful girl in the whole world. She stopped really eating a week ago and after numerous vet visits and consults and worry it was found that she was very very sick. She would never show it, of course, being such a strong lady, but it took its toll. She will always be walking in spirit with me and her son on our 4 am walks , we have a standing appointment for those starlight walks. @sociabledog @ruskin147 @DianeCoyle1859 We have a rescue from Romania and we tried to do far too much too quickly, in retrospect overwhelming her. That was 8 years ago and we still have some issues we created in doing that. If I had my time again, I’d go slowly exactly as @socialabledog is doing.

I’d like to address some recent comments regarding #sophiefromromania and whether I have the qualifications or expertise to handle her case as she settles into life with @ruskin147 and @DianeCoyle1859 . I can reassure everyone that I am highly qualified 🧵

Northumberland Coastal Run 2023 17th Sept 9.30am (approx) We will be once again hosting the legendary Northumberland Coastal Run with the date being later this year due to nesting birds on National Trust land. We are aiming to open registration on the 9th Feb at 6pm

@ruskin147 8 years on our Ivy still goes into our kitchen bin to pull our anything that ever touched food, so nothing interesting ever gets put in there.
