My friend John Foran passed from this world yesterday at 6 am. He was a very kind person. I spoke with him several times a year since we left politics. I knew for 40 years. Spoke with him more since two of my boys moved to Miramichi.

@GarnNB @uptownini Yes Matt we fought hard for these barriers. In the end the Province, the owners, and the city came up with lots of excuses to prevent the loss of lives. I remember stopping on the Halifax bridge in traffic taking pictures of their barriers!

@uptownini Former Minister @dohertyed worked incredibly hard on suicide barriers for the Reversing Falls Bridge and was fought by the owners of the Falls restaurant.

Some Key Take away's from Jeff's response: 1. "We didn't plan for it" 2. "The city requested suicide barriers for Reversing Falls Bridge" 3. If the city wants sidewalks for Harbour Bridge, the City needs to "plan ahead" 4. No, we're not going to do it

2/3 to speak up. Not speak out, speak up. Be honest with people and try to normalize mental health conversation. Now, in 2023 I feel I wouldn't have waited as long to get help because more people speak up. It's amazing the support that is around you when they know what's up.

1/3 When I first got diagnosed with anxiety/depression in 2004 I didn't talk about it with anyone. I hid it. Then I realized it had gotten to the point it did because I hid it. Few people talked about mental health. Once the meds and therapy started to work I realized I needed

@JamieLeMesurier @thewrightpage @nbmmnb I recently spent an afternoon at the Resergo museum in Moncton and realized how important museums are to preserve our culture , it is hard to imagine that we now have no provincial museum oopen to the public. Something MUST be done!

@thewrightpage @nbmmnb Not really a moment for congratulations. Is a sad occasion that our Museum is now homeless with no plan in place for a new facility. Total failure of leadership.

So, dishonoring the Cenotaph, defacing the Terry Fox Statue, multiple Nazi flags, multiple confederate flags, throwing things at reporters, forcing businesses to close. This is you truck rally folks.

Sept 4…. Life is sometimes surprisingly sentimental and emotional. Was at the sale of pews at St John the Baptist church. Brought back so many memories of volunteering & attending with our 4 children. I miss my small, strong faith community. Happy to see the church repurposed.

At one time they called me to close tomorrow am the Saturday markets in Dieppe and Moncton. Vendors weren’t cooperating ahead of the implementation. I refused. They went nuts. People would die…and tomorrow. They didn’t. Church suppers, the original regs were hugely onerous.

Public Health inspectors do a good job…but pushing back from the minister is fraught with danger. If you as minister do and someone dies (the sub dept’s implicit threat) then it’s all over. I was the minister who brought in enhanced public market regs and for church suppers
