Medicare Part D Update: What’s the Deal with Obesity Meds? 📄 CMS just dropped its 2026 Medicare Final Rule—and guess what? ❌ Anti-Obesity Medications (AOMs) are still not covered under Part D. Despite rising demand and strong evidence for meds like semaglutide, CMS said: “CMS is also announcing that it is not finalizing three provisions from the proposed rule... including Part D Coverage of Anti-Obesity Medications (AOMs) and application to the Medicaid program.” Translation: 🧓🏽 Seniors still can’t get coverage for evidence-based obesity meds through Medicare. 💊 GLP-1s for weight management remain excluded. ⏳ Future rulemaking? @rbarbosa91 @FilipinoSurgeon In MX, a general surgeon training includes less exposure to certain areas that are now claimed by subspecialties, as breast, endocrine, basic vascular, even basic colorectal. Later, out in the wild, our surgeons are demanded to perform procedures they have no experience with ☹️

Many residents, when asked what they’re going to do after finishing, answer by saying ‘just’ general surgery. No one ever says ‘just’ pediatric or ‘just’ vascular surgery. General surgery seems to have an identity issue and it either needs to be legitimized or to disappear.
