@AlanBiggs1 Nonsense.The clubs make the rules not the EFL.The EFL administers the clubs rules - including Sheff Wed who voted for the rules now being applied against them.Chansiri spent circa £150-200 mill on SWFC so the argument he wasn't fit and proper when given the club is claptrap

The EFL’s Insolvency Policy guidance, posted by @SWFCTrust tonight, contrasts with the loose, ominous & alarming language used by their COO earlier. Whereas guidance cites “right to review”, “absolute discretion” & consideration “on its merits.”

@YesWeCrann I suspect no other club has sold/lost almost all of its players at the same time, apart from bolton. A quick look at the league table and around Hillsborough and Middlewood would quickly show anyone that we aren't worth £30m.

One of the toughest things, from a journalistic perspective, around the #SWFC/admin/EFL situation is that we're literally in uncharted waters. Since the 25p/£ rule was brought in, no team has failed to adhere to it. We can't know what will/should happen, because there's no precedent. The -15 is pretty much guaranteed, but everything else is subject to negotiations, appeals etc. It's not ideal, especially from a reporting side of things, because it really is a 'wait and see' issue. Discussions will be had, but we can't possibly know how things pan out.

@rellorts I think some people are saying it because Wednesday were inaugural members of the Premier League - and they genuinely believe that is a historic thing. Weird.

Can people stop saying that #swfc were founder members of The Football League. Wednesday applied to join The Football League in 1888 but were not elected. Undeterred, Wednesday formed The Football Alliance and won it. The Football League and the Alliance merged in 1892.

What neither EFL communication says, or would admit, is that this organisation is ultimately responsible for #SWFC’s demise through the weak governance that permitted the ruinous Chansiri regime. As such, they have a moral duty to help the club recover.

The EFL’s own insolvency guidance confirms it retains “absolute discretion” when deciding how to deal with clubs going through administration. It also confirms the guidance does not bind the EFL and that each case must be considered on its merits. In other words: the EFL has the power to exercise judgement. #SWFC

The @EFL Insolvency Policy is a document so secret the @SWFCTrust had to obtain a leaked copy. They should publish it for everyone to see. Tonight the Trust will be publishing an extract which includes the considerations which the EFL “will consider” in exercising its discretion

EFL Chief Operating Officer Nick Craig, on Sheffield Wednesday: “The League want to see Sheffield Wednesday continue as a member of the EFL, but ultimately we have to also apply the terms of the League’s Insolvency Policy. “The policy, of which has been agreed with Clubs and is there to act as guidance for all Clubs and insolvency practitioners, seeks to balance the interests, not only of Sheffield Wednesday, but also of the other 71 Clubs in the EFL. “We remain open to continuing the conversations with the preferred bidders and the Administrators to try and find a solution that can see Sheffield Wednesday continue as a member of the League.” #SWFC
