@SandyofCthulhu I watched a few recently. Obviously of its time with the zaniness and sixties grooviness and naivety but holds up well with genuine charm and chemistry, and the songs are great.

I watched their TV show religiously. My more “hip” friends kept telling me the Monkees were fake but I did not care. It’s not like Samantha on Bewitched was a real witch, either. That show was very funny. I have no idea how it would hold up today. A lot of old comedy TV gets “stale”. Used to love Laugh-In and All in the Family and watching them today they go over like a turd in the punchbowl. so I’m a little afraid to re-watch the Monkees.

GP Say what you will, but for a made-up band, The Monkees had some absolute bangers. Probably helped along by The Wrecking Crew "helping" in the studio.

@shornKOOMINS Is this a consequence of now having 3,000 champions league games in a season?

This feels like a minor quibble, but TNT's Champions League coverage of games overseas has increasingly had commentators in a studio in London. You get no sense of the atmosphere and only inane input as they watch and respond to the same pictures we are seeing. Absolutely tinpot.

@Petersbrooking @BigBigBig_Jeff @PolitlcsUK @guardian Because the biggest increases in civil service came during the pandemic. from around 426,000 FTE in 2020 to 465,000 FTE in 2021 (an increase of approximately 39,000 FTE) Numbers which never reduced post pandemic.

@dollshead @Ox_22 There was The Football League before the Premier League. Once the Premier League was founded The Football League became less important.

Can people stop saying that #swfc were founder members of The Football League. Wednesday applied to join The Football League in 1888 but were not elected. Undeterred, Wednesday formed The Football Alliance and won it. The Football League and the Alliance merged in 1892.

@grena_owl @1FranDee @David_O_91 @stevechu75 @EFL @SWFCTrust He’s saying it was the same rules for Derby as Wednesday. We were able to pay 25% and avoid the 15pt deduction - because Morris wrote off his debt. The problem is Chansiri not doing the same. imo the EFL shouldn’t treat bad owner’s debt the same as other creditors.

The @EFL Insolvency Policy is a document so secret the @SWFCTrust had to obtain a leaked copy. They should publish it for everyone to see. Tonight the Trust will be publishing an extract which includes the considerations which the EFL “will consider” in exercising its discretion

@benridley10 @Dem_Blades3 Absolutely. EFL should classify debts to outgoing owner separately to others. Would give incoming owners option of settling debts with local suppliers, without being on the hook to the guy who caused the issue in the first place.

@Ox_22 @Dem_Blades3 Which you were only able to do because Morris let you off for about 100m. It's still a ridiculous rule. Why should the person responsible for this mess get anything back.

@benridley10 @Dem_Blades3 Derby avoided the -15pt deduction by paying £55m for the club and covering the debts. We still had the signing/wage restrictions for coming out of admin.

@robstaton @SWFCTrust Same Business Plan restrictions on wages and fees as Derby had, I think. Standard leaving admin. We avoided 15pt deduction as Morris cancelled his £100m debt. EFL should not classify previous owner’s debt as payable - with punishment if not met. Keep that for genuine suppliers.

Comments from an EFL spokesperson following claims made in our recent interview with James Silverwood @SWFCTrust "The Club has been aware for some time that it is subject to a Fee Restriction until January 2027, and the Club is also aware that any exit from Administration will be subject to a Business Plan and that includes player expenditure. "The Insolvency Policy is designed to balance the interests of the Club exiting administration versus members who meet their liabilities. "The League has engaged in, without prejudice, discussions in respect of these matters and remain willing to discuss the approach with both the Administrators and the Preferred Bidders on how the Club exits Administration." #SWFC

mudbugs. My friend who worked as a waitress at a cajun place for a few months told me this tale: An older lady came in with her kids and ordered the "crayfish etouffe over rice". When it came she was horrified because these huge red bugs were in it. She yelled at my friend (the waitress) about the unsanity insects in her food. She threatened to call the police. Her kids couldn't calm her down. She didn't actually call the police, but the chef came over as well as a guy from a neighboring table, and all of them assured her that you are supposed to eat the bugs. She sent it back for something else.

Can’t believe how many people are complaining about this: 👉 Fewer dead rubber games at the end of each season - now a battle to finish 3rd/4th as well as in the top 8 👉 More teams have a chance to get promoted - the league’s been dominated by relegated teams in recent years, this makes it harder for them and evens out the playing field 👉 MORE Play-off games! - more entertainment! 👉 The team who finishes 8th could get promoted - so what? The team who finishes 6th can get promoted currently? If you have an issue with this, you have an issue with the entire concept of the Play-offs This is a great idea 👏

Listening to Trump's incomprehensible waffling about the Chagos Islands yesterday made me realise — he doesn't have the faintest idea what it's about. Not a fricken clue. Farage's current bandwagon is mounted on Trump 'hating the deal'. It's absolute garbage. Trump is saying things he doesn't understand but has been told to say. Here's Reform UK's pet journalist confirming my suspicions.
