I'm not a commie or some hippie environmentalist, but there is something wrong with an economic system that encourages the destruction of over 50,000 sq. miles of Indonesian rainforest to produce palm oil. That's an area the size of Pennsylvania, the only habitat for endangered orangutans, being destroyed so we can produce billions of Oreo cookies and millions of jars of Nutella.

We’ve just been given 24 hours to take down our report on a dodgy Oxford accounting firm. Here’s the correspondence. On the Richter scale of legal threats, it’s somewhere between cornflakes and a kitten:

#C4News "The strait of Hormuz is actually open if you're not part of the war" "The Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, have got ships through" "The idea that the strait of Hormuz is not open is not true" "It is closed if you are supporting the illegal war" "They have hit 30 universities" "They have hit 600 schools" "These are war crimes" "66% of the Iranian diaspora in the USA are against this war" "Iran a couple of 93 million people now has people suffering from toxins because petrochemical plants have been bombed, it is egregious to suggest that people want to be bombed" Well said @sanambna

Well, why not simply invest that 300 million into Doctors Pay and avoid the strikes Wes? Or is there an ideological principle you are trying prove at the expense of the NHS?
Sky News@SkyNews

Health secretary @wesstreeting tells @AnnaJonesSky that the resident doctors' strike that started today will cost the NHS £300m. Live updates: trib.al/cfgpgnx 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube

@ArturNadol7566 @mattprescott @HSBC It's a typical outcome for whistleblowers, especially in the UK. It's time some MP introduced a bill that ensures no honest whistleblower suffers at the hands of bureaucracy and the business establishment.

MAN LOSES EVERYTHING FOR TELLING THE TRUTH. HSBC LOSES NOTHING FOR FRAUD. Nicholas Wilson spotted something wrong in 2003. Simple enough: @HSBC's subsidiary HFC Bank was quietly adding a 16.4% "debt collection charge" to the accounts of people already struggling to pay off store cards at John Lewis, Currys, B&Q, Dixons and PC World. Illegal. Straightforward. He said so. His boss started calling him "Mr Ethical." Not a compliment. He reported it. Got sacked. Reported it again. Got ignored. Regulators sat on it for years. @TheFCA own Complaints Commissioner eventually said it was the worst case of regulatory failure he'd ever dealt with. The FCA responded by appointing someone from John Lewis and someone from HSBC to its board. You genuinely cannot make this up. After 13 years, HSBC quietly agreed to compensate customers. The official figure: 6,700 people. Wilson says the real number is closer to 500,000. He estimates the fraud totalled over £1 billion. HSBC has paid out around £200 million so far, with some victims receiving over £10,000. No fines. No prosecutions. Nobody went to jail. Wilson, meanwhile, has been unemployable ever since. Blacklisted. Living on benefits. Nearly lost his home. The bank that defrauded half a million people kept its licence. The man who exposed it lost everything. Source: @guardian | nicholaswilson_com

Absolutely disgraceful racism from @jkyleofficial on @TalkTV. As the camera zooms in on me and @DrHWazir on the picket line, he sneers that “a lot of them have come into this country to be doctors.” He based this solely on the colour of my skin. I was born in the UK. I studied and trained in the UK and I currently work as a doctor in the NHS. My grandfather fought for this country in WW2. This is racist, demeaning, and utterly unacceptable.

I do think, though, that subsidising huge businesses like Tesco or Amazon or whatever paying poverty wages by topping them up with benefits is a model we should be working to move away from. No one in work should need state support. Make the bosses pay.

Absolute horror on Al Jazeera. Israeli forces just deliberately shot and killed a World Health Organization employee in Gaza. They opened fire on a UN vehicle, injuring multiple staff members. Israel is intentionally targeting the United Nations with zero accountability.

@DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting @TheSun A below inflation offer to a profession with 20 years of pay degradation and all we get from those responsible is propaganda. You continue the Tories work of demoralising doctors and selling off the NHS.

@DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting @TheSun The disrespect of you lot calling RESIDENT Doctors Junior Doctors, on a social media site, just about sums up your lack of knowledge of what these hard working individuals have to put up with. I’m a patient and I see your gaslighting. Support Doctors NOW
