@NintyPrime If a fan game is recognized by a Japanese judge and that fan game did this or that first wouldn’t that muddy the waters of thier IP?

They already majorly crack down on Pokemon fan games. It is a little wild they lost a patent due to an illegal game doing it first. But, they did do it first, so you can't own that patent lol. No issue with me, I am not a huge fan of gameplay mechanics being patented in general, even though I know every company does it.

Nintendo has gotten a patent rejected in Japan due to the mechanic they were trying to patent being already used in a Pokémon fangame from 2013. While this may seem like a great outcome, this may lead to them starting a major crackdown on Pokémon fangames so that this doesn’t happen again. gamerant.com/nintendo-pokem…

@Pirat_Nation I wonder if Japanese Judge recognition of a Pokemon Fangame puts Nintendo x TPCI Pokemon IP “control”? In question.

Nintendo has reportedly suffered a setback after Japan’s Patent Office rejected one of its Pokémon-related patent applications. The patent covered touchscreen gameplay features like moving your character, throwing an item to catch creatures, sending them into battle, and choosing commands during fights. According to the patent office, those ideas weren’t new enough. The examiner pointed to several earlier examples, including a Pokémon fan game shown on YouTube in 2013, saying similar mechanics were already public before Nintendo filed the patent.

🚨Palworld just achieved what Pokémon has not managed in years 855,525 concurrent players on Steam this Sunday Second most played game on the entire platform behind only Counter-Strike 2 Pokémon has been the biggest gaming franchise in the world for 30 years And a small indie studio from Japan just outpaced it with a survival game about creatures with guns What do you think Pokémon needs to do to compete with this?

Saw someone post a game-key card to "stick it to Sony". Don't fall for this fallacy! Sony doesn't kill physical to empty your shelves. They want to force you into all-digital. Key cards, just like empty discs, are just the Trojan Horse to get you there.

@NateTheHate2 For speculation sake, how long do you think Nintendo is gonna keep withholding gameplay of OoT remake until they start marketing this title properly? Surely they'll want more than just a couple of months of marketing prior release, right? It's their big 2026 title.

Physical media is still BIG in Japan. It will be a sad day when sights like this are no longer around due to PlayStation ending physical disc production. Feels like the end of an era is fast approaching.

Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden says he doesn’t think Sony should stop bringing PlayStation games to PC. Layden explained that the strategy was never just about making more money. He said many PC players “weren’t going to buy the hardware anyway,” so releasing games on PC gave Sony a chance to reach people who were never going to buy a PlayStation console. He also criticized people who say PC releases hurt PlayStation, saying: “I love how everyone online is a marketing/business analyst and darn near a part-time psychologist that understands the ins and outs of consumer spending and purchasing habits better than billion-dollar organizations.”
