I did a little data-digging on our long-term drought. We've had about half of our normal rainfall since Oct 1, which is why most of the state in experiencing its worst drought since 2008. wxii12.com/weather

Here is the radar-estimated rainfall for Saturday across NC. (This doesn't include gauge observations, so your local totals may differ.) While our northwest areas saw no measurable rainfall, areas around the Triangle and to the south and east saw a good soaking rain. #ncwx

2 things can be true. - the Biden Administration blocked a JetBlue/Spirit merger out of market consolidation concerns & now here we are with one company gone. - the final blow that caused Spirit to fall was skyrocketing jet fuel prices caused by the war in Iran.

I keep getting questions about when will the drought end. It is going to last for months. It's like being in debt. If you owe $10k, you're not gonna pay it back all at once. You need to chip away over a long time. We have a big deficit to makeup.

Spring has been insanely warm! I don't think we fully realize just how warm it's been. Since March 1st, we've had 19 days in the 80s! We've more days in the 80s than any other temperature category! It's been the warmest start to spring on record. No signs of slowing down.

We have seen .20” of rain this evening ahead of the front tonight in Valle Crucis, NC. It was so nice to see it for the newly sprouted plants and flowers 🌱 that have already seemed stressed from the drought . #ncwx
