The Supreme Court upheld the clear meaning of the Constitution in protecting birthright citizenship and rejecting Donald Trump’s latest attempt to do violence to our democracy. All Americans should be glad that the Court has not completely been overtaken by a partisan, revanchist agenda. Unfortunately, that agenda drives many of the Court’s decisions, and this victory for decency and the rule of law should not blind us to the reality of the moment. On this same day, the Court sided with those who scapegoat trans youth and opened the door even further to the unchecked torrent of campaign cash that is corrupting our entire political system. The fight continues.

@MicahLasher Trump told them to do what New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and other states set in place years ago. All Texas did was match states like ours, where Republicans have been iced out for years.

Last summer, Donald Trump called up the Governor of Texas and told him to steal five congressional seats for the Republicans. New York cannot sit on the sidelines while’s Republican steal control of the Congress. New York needs to fight fire with fire, which is why I wrote and introduced legislation so New York can fight back.
