Washington State has moved from one of the most affordable states to the 4th least affordable over the past two decades.
The primary reason: Progressive policies are inflationary. Good people can make the case that all the inflation that comes from these progressive policies is worth it, but at least have the courtesy of showing your work.
Let's look at housing. In 2023, the Seattle Auditor's office surveyed housing providers to explore why they'd stopped offering rental housing.
74% of landlords surveyed said Seattle's laws are too burdensome or difficult.
But what was said in the free-form "Anything else you'd like to add" survey was even more amazing:

So we're learning more about the guy who raped the 15-year-old girl in Northgate. His name is Joshua Kowalczewski. And as I predicted here a couple of days ago, he's a vagrant. That should have been obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together when initial reports mentioned that when SPD arrested him a couple of hours later, he was seen at 115th and Aurora dropping a deuce in the middle of the street.
But perhaps it wasn't obvious to the Seattle Times and all our other local media outlets. Isn't it interesting how none of them mentioned the fact that he's homeless? They must have seen the arrest report and charging documents. So why didn't they mention that little detail?
I'll tell you why. Because it doesn't fit their narrative and the left's narrative in general .
Here is how the left is going to respond to the news that he's homeless. They'll say, "Why is that relevant?" I know this because this is what they've done with other stories like these, and they're already doing it with this one.
Now, we know their motive for wanting that detail omitted. They don't want people getting what they would say is the wrong idea about our precious, harmless "houseless neighbors."
But it's relevant because these things matter when we consider who we're allowing to live in tents in our parks and by our homes and schools. There's a reason why a lot of these dudes are homeless, and it's not because of "capitalism." A huge number of them have active warrants for all kinds of stuff, like this guy does.
It's also relevant because our justice system has a tendency to treat vagrants differently from the rest of us. Take Joshua Kowalczewski, for example. 28 arrests, 14 convictions, and multiple outstanding warrants. And we STILL allowed him to roam our streets. Oh, that's right. He was ordered to go to a drug diversion program. That'll teach him!
Meanwhile, because the media often covers up details like this, voters are none the wiser about how big the problem really is. So they keep electing soft on crime politicians. We have the right and responsibility to point out the consequences of who we elect and their bad policy decisions.
And lastly, it's relevant because we've been paying a fortune to give these dirtbags all kinds of services. Estimates put that number at anywhere between $40K to over $100K per vagrant, and that's annually. We have a right to know who is benefiting from the generosity of taxpayers.
And let's be real, the left loves to make examples of pedophile priests or cops or MAGA supporters who do sick shit like this. Are they questioning the relevancy in those situations?
If the left is going to continue to gaslight us and say the homeless are harmless and our "most vulnerable community members," we have every right to push back against that narrative when they commit horrifying crimes like this one.

A rare sighting of Lynx in the North Cascades
@MimiRitZ244 and I were heading up the pass, admiring some beautiful frozen waterfalls. Off in the distance, we saw something pop out onto the road. I quickly grabbed my camera, and suddenly two more appeared. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing — they were Lynx!
