@FurFamilyCats @Firsttimedad001 @judeinlondon There is, you are right. I suppose i am trying to say that people who work can be one accident or misfortune away from people who cant. And whilst the standard of living is going down for those in work and those on benefits, there are a few whose wealth is increasing rapidly now

“80k a year is not rich” says people upset that those claiming £12k a year in benefits should pay the same as someone earning 80k a year. Make it make sense
B@ERBeaumont

@GriftReport 80k is not rich. I hate people like this who can’t tell the difference and kill all aspiration.

@PaulaCoyscot @judeinlondon I’m 100% on your side - any full time worker should be able to live to a good standard. I’m a single working parent too, I’m luckily in a job that does pay enough to live. I’m on about how we grown the pie for all, not arguing over how to split a shrinking one.

The purpose of culture war is not to *win*. The purpose of it is to keep fighting about nothing you care about, at astonishing intensity, to distract from you stealing from and fucking over the public. You pick topics specifically because you don’t care whether you win or lose.

The Labour Starmer promised during his leadership campaign was centre-left. Immediately after winning he reneged on his pledges and told anyone who objected to leave. Debating with liars is futile.
Jonathon Hawkes@JonathonHawkes

There are significant policy differences between Labour and the Greens – on housing, border control, economic growth, our place in the world. Labour are a Centre-Left Party. The Greens are not. We should never be shy about taking the Greens on in policy terms – let’s do that.

@Layo_FH @MBorrigan59766 Well, we obviously fundamentally disagree on the issue. But i dont think Labour will be given the grace to fall short by the public. And given their historic majority they have no excuse.

@donsimon814 @MBorrigan59766 No they’re not. The government has the right ideas (thought mostly don’t go far enough IMO) but hasn’t yet enacted any of their reforms, such as on planning.

1. Why would developers spend millions building flats that are not going to sell…. That’s so incoherent that I don’t believe even the Greens are making that case. 2. The number of long term empty properties in London is absolutely tiny. Apart from in a few areas in places like Mayfair, the idea that buyers are buying property to leave them empty isn’t true. This is always levelled at foreign buyers because it’s an acceptable xenophobia for the Left. It is false. 3. Even if all the new flats around us were ‘luxury flats’ (they’re often not, they’re mostly bog standard flats that follow the same template, large accessible bathroom, low ceilings and a open plan kitchen-living room - you know the vibe), there’s loads of evidence across the globe that shows that new properties on the upper end of the market create moving chains that free up properties on the lower end of the market. In short, luxury flats create more affordable housing. He’s so wrong on housing. Is he moron or is a snake oil salesman, I don’t know. But what a tragedy that in this country Polanski and Farage are the recent political success stories.
The Green Party@TheGreenParty

"What we see far too often with Labour councils is they’re building luxury, unaffordable homes that no one is ever going to live in, while communities are knocked down in the name of regeneration." Green Party leader Zack Polanski on Labour’s record on the housing crisis.

@Wilkism_ Perhaps the sensible centre ground should've addressed the public's concerns instead of letting the largest donors to their parties dictate policy

@Layo_FH @MBorrigan59766 Fair. As a leftie i want to see state involvement in markets that are necessary for human life. But the next issue centrists and liberals have is: are the current government addressing these problems?

@MBorrigan59766 @Layo_FH Your biggest mistake, and why libs keep losing is because they convince themselves grievances are being "stirred up". The grievances are legitimate and real - it's that you are insulated from them.

@Layo_FH He repeats the same bland statements and I do not believe he has a viable solution. He’s a populist stirring up grievances. Houses are too expensive. We need to build more of them where people want to live and they’ll become more affordable. That’s it.

The most remarkable thing about this is that D-Notices are entirely voluntary. Meaning the entire national media helped cover up Britain’s material support for a genocide simply because the government asked.

Yes. Solving the housing crisis will take direct intervention from a bold and ambitious government. The market cannot and will not solve it. Build, build, build misses the point... Build what?! For whom?! It is time for a revolution in our profit-based planning system. It is time for council housing at scale. Designed with imagination, and with no vested interest other than people and planet, so that communities & nature can thrive together. #votegreen .

"The unrealistic thing is to expect property developers.. to build us out of this crisis.. what we really need is a party.. who say we need to build social housing, council housing.. it will require intervention [&] thats absolutely what we must do" @ZackPolanski yesterday

Wow Trump does stuff Israel doesn't like, and a deluge of Epstein stuff comes out within days. Surely a coincidence since Israeli intel running a pedo ring that ensnared the US political establishment for decades is a little too much for most people to contemplate.
