The U-2's transponders always max out at 60,000 feet, never indicating a higher altitude, even when the aircraft is known to be flying higher. I used to believe this was due to outdated secrecy measures, but now I suspect it's to prevent crashes with outdated ATC software.

@scott_tobias As a dilettante myself I am somewhat offended by that. We dilettantes are legitimately interested in those disparate subjects, we’re not just using partially gleaned items to stir shit and obfuscate topics in other areas.

@aaronreynolds My kindergartner keeps bringing home books from the school library that have your name on them and even though I know better I am disappointed every time he asks me to read one to him. Why can’t those creepy carrots swear at least a little?

Reality is more complicated; they have done 100% text replacement on house bills to comply with letter but not spirit. But it’s supposed to always start in House history.house.gov/institution/or…

Well, I take that parenthetical back. He pulled that out of the hat with some late votes, including from Ogles. McCarthy *will* come in first on the 12th ballot, but will not secure a majority — hence, the speakership — due to seven remaining defecting Republicans.
