We're doing another Agents Anonymous. Probably the last one - with me - for a while, at least in London. This is for builders. Even better when you wanna do a 5 min demo. We'll have to be quite selective on that so take some time on the signup notes. luma.com/6cnzck71

@steipete What you've built has helped me 10x my productivity and helped me deploy ideas I never though i would be able to. PS - I'm no developer, just a simple designer. My only issue i hit right now is my Rate Limit, but hopefully that gets fixed over time.

@armon If the gays are ruling Silicon Valley, the straights are ruling Little St. James? As a gay founder myself it's crazy that this article was even published. Gays make it despite the tech bros as the frat clubs is evidence that the gays work hard if nothing else.

@timinterweb My thoughts exactly. It's fine to break rules if you have the financials to do it. But better not if you're not backed by big bucks

Hey @webflow @HubSpot the form integration app is great ... but it breaks when using the captcha code from Hubspot. You need to manually add the form to each page and cannot use symbols. Same applies for the Collection pages. Welp!

@lorecirstea @YBaillat14941 @nylanderjens I believe that's about having the same rules for all players in the game. If everyone chooses to follow their own rules, well that's a choice. However, I do agree there should be better rules ... including improvements to taxes on ESOPs etc. But they made a this choice...

@YBaillat14941 @nylanderjens This is exactly what I am talking about. It's like Europeans have a fetish for seeing others choked by authority. Instead of putting that energy into removing regulations where it matters most: first-time founders. And encourage creativity.

I had to check if this was a comedy account. Should I tell you about the time I had to hire a lawyer to defend my company in court (!) because the government did not receive a file, because their online systems were impossible to use, and even after 6 months of back and forth emails -> physical (!) post -> emails, I could not understand what they wanted from me? After getting all the IDs and a digital certificate for my company, nobody mentioned that I needed additional "subcertificates" to file my taxes. I had PAID my taxes, but could not file the damn electronic papers, and this was the first year of business - I had ZERO money for an accountant. My FIRST company. I knew nothing; my co-founder & I spent days on their websites to make sense. And the lawyer did not do a damn thing for 6 months, until I moved my ass to that country with screenshots & timelines and explained in detail how their systems & people failed to answer basic questions. Then my lawyer won in court against the state, and I got accountants, and they said this never happens and I should tread carefully with the government 🤦 from now on, because they are probably pissed (my word). But no, there are no articles about these sh*t tests that you have to go through. Where are the articles about the EU being an economic alliance, but they do anything else than make good economic policies? WHY DO WE HAVE so many different VAT regulations for each country? Why don't we already have startup infra, so don't think about ANY regulations in the first 3 years of business? In the EU we have "first home" programs for young people. Why not "first startup"? #EU #Europe #bureaucracy #Startups cc @levelsio
Jens Nylander@nylanderjens

If you want to sell a service such as @Lovable globally and want to jump over VAT/tax everywhere is that OK and fair? Togheter with the journalist @emilhellerud we tracked Lovable receipts and found zero tax compliance(EU). Broadcasted on TV4.

@forgebitz I think it's no longer SaaS... it's more like 'Pay as you go' - It's like an infinite money hack. Don't provide a service that works, user can't achieve what was intended... pay product some more to continue using their service.. with no guarantee of actually achieving anything.

@JayaGup10 So true. What's ironic is the whole Lovable VAT fiasco here in Sweden as well. All investors were so eager to kingmake a darling...skipped DD and went straight to evaluations.... The company supposedly a year old with a claimed ARR of $200M, didn't register for tax in the EU. 🤯

AI has given venture capital a new way to repeat an old mistake: kingmaking. The pattern from 2021 is back: a category becomes "obvious," a top-tier firm anoints its winner, and everyone else acts like the decision is final. Sierra for support. Harvey for legal. Applied Compute for RL-as-a-service.

@emanuelturis @GergelyOrosz I think most people on this platform are just trolls and haters. It's all optics and it's all narrative. EU has one of the simplest tax compliance systems for foreign companies to register for (OSS) Not doing it for whatever reason is just dumb. Following the law isn't stupid.

@GergelyOrosz Sure buddy try not paying taxes in the US and see what happens 😆 This narrative that somehow the EU is so so bad because these poor companies raising 200M have to collect and pay taxes Try that same crap in the US, I'm sure the IRS will love it

This is one example of why European tech startups are competing handcuffed vs US startups. Here’s Lovable, one of the few massively successful startups employing a bunch of people in the EU, growing fast. A Swedish entrepreneur attempts to take them down w EU VAT concerns. 😡

@melvintercan @GergelyOrosz They use Stripe. All of that is out of the box. Just as it was when they used Stripe Atlas to register in Delaware. This really isn't an excuse. Companies make mistakes... but not for a whole year... someone should have fixed it

@GergelyOrosz Registering for VAT isn't exactly what I call a handcuff. It's literally the first thing one should to do when selling in Europe. I think the bigger issue is that they've raised cash on ARR that's not pre-tax. So that just leaves a lot of question marks. They'll be fine though.

So far... Gemini 3 has been pretty amazing at building very functional local apps that have increased my productivity at least 10x for some random tedious tasks I used to do. So much better to just build, compile and host locally.
