In 2021, Abideen Olasupo, sparked a heated debate on Nigerian social media after he returned $2,397 that was mistakenly paid to him twice for consulting work. Many people insulted him for taking that step.
Olasupo clung to the virtues he had learnt from his parents while growing up, not knowing that his gesture was noted and he was honored with the Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Award

According to the 2024 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey, most survivors of physical or sexual violence in Nigeria have never sought help or confided in anyone.
This trend extends to survivors of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) as well. A variety of factors contribute to this persistent silence, including fear of stigma, lack of awareness about available support services, and concerns about further victimisation.
Reporting isn't always easy, but it's a powerful step toward change. Speak up, your voice matters.

INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION
PRESS STATEMENT
FCT POLLING UNITS WERE SPLIT IN FEBRUARY 2022
Further to its statement issued on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, on the conduct of the February 21 Area Council election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Commission provides the following additional clarification regarding the issue of split polling units.
While the election was conducted successfully, the Commission observed that some voters experienced difficulties locating their designated polling units on Election Day. However, contrary to claims in some quarters that voters were migrated to new or different polling units shortly before the election, the Commission states categorically that no voter was migrated in 2026.
Under its Expansion of Voters’ Access to Polling Units initiative, the Commission in 2022 created over 56,000 additional polling units nationwide, increasing the total number of polling units from 119,972 to over 176,000. In order to populate the newly created polling units, many of which had zero registered voters at the time, 6.7 million voters were migrated from about 12,000 congested polling units to approximately 17,000 less congested polling units across the country. In the FCT specifically, 411 polling units were decongested, with about 580,000 voters redistributed to 1,156 polling units.
The Commission notes that no new voter migration was carried out in 2026. The split polling units referenced in recent discussions were created in February 2022 and not in 2026.
For clarity, split polling units are additional voting points and BVAS devices deployed to ease voter accreditation and fast-track voting in large polling units with more than 1,250 registered voters. The objective is to enhance orderliness, reduce overcrowding and improve the overall voting experience. These split units are located only a few metres away from the original polling units and remain within the same premises.
To further assist voters, the Commission provides an online Polling Unit Locator available at cvr.inecnigeria.org/pu. The Polling Unit Locator enables voters to confirm their polling unit by selecting their State, Local Government Area, Registration Area (Ward) and Polling Unit.
INEC further clarifies that the splitting of polling units did not alter voters’ registration status, but merely redistributed voters within the same location for administrative efficiency.
However, the Commission observed during the mock election in the FCT that many voters who were migrated in 2022 were still experiencing difficulties locating their polling units, necessitating targeted intervention. Accordingly, text messages and emails were sent to affected voters on Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st February 2026, indicating the locations of their polling units. These notifications were intended solely as reminders to assist voters in identifying their designated voting points.
The Commission encourages voters to verify their polling details ahead of elections and, where possible, physically visit their polling locations prior to Election Day.
INEC reiterates its commitment to continuous improvement in electoral service delivery and urges voters to take advantage of all verification platforms provided in order to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.

My name is Zainab. I’m 27 years old. An SS.
That is, I live with sickle cell disease.
My parents are both AS.
Oh, they They knew.
They were told.
They still married.
They said God approved it. They said love would be enough. They said faith would cover the consequences.
I am the consequence.
I was diagnosed before I was two. My childhood memories are not playgrounds or cartoons, they are; hospitals, needles, and adults whispering when they thought I couldn’t hear.
In primary school, I missed classes so often that teachers stopped asking why. Some classmates thought I was pretending. Some thought I was cursed. I learned early how to smile while feeling different.
By secondary school, the pain episodes became more frequent. I would wake up excited for school and end the day on a hospital bed. I watched my mates grow normally while my life moved in pauses, school, hospital, recovery, repeat.
At 15, I lost my younger brother to sickle cell.
We were both SS.
That day changed me forever.
My parents broke down in front of me — crying, apologizing, saying “We followed faith. We didn’t think…”
But the damage had already been done.
Sometimes I forgive them.
Sometimes I resent them deeply.
Both feelings live in me.
In university, I tried to be normal. I joined sickle cell advocacy groups, volunteered with awareness organizations, spoke at events, encouraged parents to test their genotype. People call me strong. They call me a warrior.
What they don’t see is me crying alone at night after another silent pain episode.
They don’t see the fear that comes with planning a future in a body that doesn’t always cooperate.
And Relationships?
That’s another wound.
I’ve been loved… briefly.
The moment conversations turn serious about marriage, children, commitment….they leave. Some are honest. Some ghost me. Some promise forever and disappear quietly.
One man once said he would do anything for me. He talked about taking me abroad, better care, a life without fear. I believed him. For the first time, my heart rested.
Then one day, he stopped calling.
That heartbreak triggered one of the worst crises I’ve had as an adult. Not because of physical stress but because hope collapsed.
Now I’m older. The pain episodes come differently. Less dramatic, but more exhausting. My body recovers slower. My fears are heavier. I ask myself questions my parents never asked each other.
I am strong, yes.
But I am tired.
If you are AS and the person you love is AS, please love your unborn children enough to stop and think. Faith is not a license to ignore knowledge. I am a proof to that
I didn’t ask to be a lesson.
But if my life can prevent another child from being born into avoidable pain, then my voice matters.
That’s why I’m writing this to you. Because people listens to you and this story needs to be heard. I hope that your audience share this till it reaches those who are about to walk by faith and not by sight, Sickle Cell is real!.
Adeyinka, keep rescuing lives, I love how you raise awareness and say the truth unapologetically, those who do not like you are probably those who wish they could be you. Have you met you?. Oh,I see you Queen Ade💪🏻

Before you screenshot that WhatsApp chat, read this carefully.
This small mistake has destr0yed many strong court cases.
If a WhatsApp chat shows a saved contact name instead of the phone number, that screenshot can be challenged in court. Names like “My Love”, “Boss” or “Chairman” mean nothing legally.
In court, the other party can simply say:
That name is not mine.
That number is not my phone.
Once doubt enters, your evidence becomes weak.
What to do before screenshotting 👇
1.Unsaved the contact
2.Reopen the WhatsApp chat
3.Ensure the full phone number is visible
4.Then take your screenshots
Courts rely on clear identification, not assumptions or explanations like “I know it’s him.”
One wrong screenshot can cost you everything.

Since the Cybercrime Act of 2015 was passed into law, several media reports have revealed how state actors have exploited its provisions to silence civic actors and journalists who seek to hold government accountable or comment on social issues.
In this report, Dataphyte tells the story of Binniyat, a Kaduna-based journalist, and how he was punished for publishing a report on a case involving the state government.
Binniyat was arrested and detained for 288 days simply for being a journalist. He described this incident as the worst experience of his journalism career.
