Me when I realise Pest (which I only discovered this week) means "Testing for a language starting with a P", and subsequently realise what that means for Jest (which I've been using for almost 3 years):

I spent most of my Saturday night visually improving the output of Xdebug and I regret nothing.

Woke up to see a PR I raised in an open source package was merged overnight, that's always a nice way to start a Sunday 😊

#wpdrama if it was a tale. 🧵 There used to be a patch of land. Unkempt and gown over, on the outskirts of the town. One day a guy named Patt looked at it and said - I'd like to clean this up and make it into a nice park.

@CoderciseYT @gulpjs I use it more than I really need to out of habit now (CSS variables and nesting weren't things when I started) but I truly love SCSS. Variables, functions, mixins, loops, it's all so good. One of the main reasons I like Styled Components is because it's like SCSS in JS🤣

@doubleedesign @gulpjs SCSS! I was just thinking about that yesterday when I was writing plain ol' CSS but did not want to use Tailwind.

So nice to get stuck into some theme development and see that there's finally a new version of @gulpjs! My procrastination and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude towards it has been validated! 🤣

@CoderciseYT @gulpjs Honestly, diving into a custom theme project where I code HTML, SCSS, PHP, and just a sprinkling of JS is like slipping into a comfy old coat. (Usually WordPress themes but I feel similarly about Drupal, that coat's just a little scratchier😅)

@ekzhang1 "ok but why can’t LLM’s write my frontend code for me to fix the overflow scrolling and alignment on a UI component" The real question is, can they centre a div?

all these people claiming LLM’s are phd-level ok but why can’t LLM’s write my frontend code for me to fix the overflow scrolling and alignment on a UI component like surely web development is not a phd-level skill right 😭 the labs keep overpromising and underdelivering

@levelsio Feels like he has a long running hatred of WPEngine that got triggered into this from something else in his life. Hard to know there hasn’t been a strategic play since the start. I suspect it ends with him stepping down and WP continuing its own journey.

Pains me to tweet this because I'm such a WordPress and Matt Mullenweg fan But if I wouldn't say it I'd be lying to myself just because I'm such a fan I'm convinced this entire thing is a personal meltdown and it's not his real character So I think everyone should migrate back after this saga is over But right now it's starting to enter dangerous territory where it looks WordPress or Matt really doesn't care if it starts affecting WordPress installations in a bad way which is like 60-70% of the internet How it should go IMHO is: - do the court case - let the judge decide who's wrong or right - don't make WordPress users the victim of all this drama - let things run as they were running - act like a grown up
@levelsio@levelsio

I just want to suggest everyone who's still on WordPress now to move to Ghost.org immediately At least until this absolutely crazy behavior by WordPress stops The people at Ghost are too humble to step in so I thought I'll write the tweet for them They have a full migration tool for you ready too at ghost.org/docs/migration… I love WordPress and Matt but it's obvious this type of behavior is too crazy and my gut tells me it might start affecting WordPress-hosted sites anytime soon in bad ways

My overall view of the WordPress spat is "why can't we all get along like we did in middle internet?" but this...is a very bad faith action. Regardless of the legalities and ethics under discussion up until this point, this just isn't the vibe.

Advanced Custom Fields@wp_acf

We have been made aware that the Advanced Custom Fields plugin on the WordPress directory has been taken over by WordPress dot org. A plugin under active development has never been unilaterally and forcibly taken away from its creator without consent in the 21 year history of WordPress.

The wildest part of this WordPress drama is that anyone thinks "WP Engine" is confusing. I've never had to explain to a client or a student that WPE is a hosting provider. What I have had to explain is how WordPress.org and .com are meaningfully different things.

Twice this week I've seen some comment or question online involving "Publisher" where my mind went straight to Microsoft but they actually meant Affinity. Suffice to say, I have never felt older.

But now if you'll excuse me, I had the idea to try building a new version of my personal site with @vuejs + Markdown, and thanks to ChatGPT went from the idea -> learning that @nuxt_js just *does* that -> a "Hello world" page in ~30 minutes - and now I want to play with that!😁

2/2 I also have to admit, being able to progress quickly by asking ChatGPT "how do I do this specific thing in Angular?" and receive in-IDE suggestions from Copilot has a *lot* to do with it too.

1/2 I've been working on a uni project using Angular and I have to admit, I don't hate it. For a start, I like the built-in component generator, and discovering that `ng generate` can be used for a bunch of other things too.
