Lets be real and tell it like it is. Real competitors are becoming harder and harder to find. Vanity players that love showcases and convenient training are around every corner. Nice kids get their scholarships taken. Nice kids get released from pro ball. A kid can be the best kid on the team. He can sit on the front row in class and make straight A's. He can be the student body president and a kid everyone wants to marry their daughter. But. He's on scholarship and maybe NIL money to be an impact baseball player. He's on scholarship and possibly NIL money to help the coaches, program and his teammates win baseball games. If he can't make an impact athletically, he will be shown the door. It's supposed to be cruel, rude and nasty to allow the cream to rise to the top. It's a competition and it's not for everyone. Coaches want players with great makeup, but if you can't play, it doesn't matter to them. Coaches want junk yard dogs that want to dominate the competition. Coaches want dudes that can do it vs the equal and or better. Coaches want dudes with moxie, feel, different gears and heightened awareness in game defining situations. Coaches want players that take practice and games personal. Coaches want players that are more concerned with competing than their mechanics, gear and sunglasses. Coaches want players that want to be the difference between winning and losing. The players that want the ball or bat in their hand with the game on the line. Want to be a better player? Be a better competitor and you'll be a better player. Be a better competitor in everything that you do. Take everything personally, because it is. Represent the name on the back of your jersey like the toughest, most competitive player on every team you're on.

Incredible take from Charles Barkley on Tom Izzo: "The media, who don't know anything about sports, say 'Why is he yelling his players?' That's called coaching... if parents & friends get mad because you're getting yelled at, get better parents & better friends."

I learned the most about how to play basketball when I played with grown men on Friday and Saturday mornings.. 7am-10am every week from 6th grade through HS If you didn’t pass & cut, screen away, play defense, move without the ball or take the correct shots, you sat & watched

Went to the grocery store this morning Bread, milk, eggs $47.63 The screen asked if I'd like to round up to support a children's hospital I pressed no The cashier looked at me The woman behind me looked at me My wife looked at the ceiling Again This company made $14 billion last year They can round up Went to get gas after The pump asked if I'd like to add $1 to support veterans I support veterans I pressed no A $200 billion oil company asking me to fund their charity while I'm paying $3.89 a gallon That's not philanthropy That's outsourcing Drove through for lunch Taco Bell The screen said "round up for education?" A fast food company asking me to fund scholarships while paying their employees $11 an hour I pressed no My wife said "you know you're arguing with screens today" She was right But the screens started it Went to the pharmacy Picked up a prescription $340 after insurance The screen asked if I'd like to donate $1 to help families in need I just paid $340 for a medication that costs $4 to manufacture And now you want a dollar I pressed no The pharmacist said "it's just a dollar" I said "it's never just a dollar" She didn't respond Got home My wife said "you said no to a children's hospital, veterans, education, and families in need today" I said "no. I said no to four corporations who want me to fund their goodwill so they can put it in their annual report" She was quiet Then she said "you're not wrong" I said "I know" She said "but you're still going to look like a monster" I said "I'd rather look like a monster than quietly fund a billion-dollar company's PR strategy at the register" She didn't disagree But she didn't look at me either Plz fix. Thx. Sent from my iPhone

You need to train your nervous system. This guy could squat 400 pounds, but he only threw 84 miles an hour. He was stronger than most pitchers, but strength doesn’t always equal pitching velocity. Here’s where most people get it wrong. They think if they gain strength and weight, they’ll automatically throw harder. With weight training, you need to train your nervous system, not just your muscles. You have to teach your body to go from completely relaxed to fully explosive in a split second. When you throw, you’re not tense the whole time. You’re loose and relaxed, then boom, you explode. That’s a nervous system skill, not just a strength skill. Most guys lift heavy, but they never train that relaxation to explosion pattern. Their body doesn’t know how to turn it on when it matters. For this athlete who already had a strong base, all we had to do was teach his nervous system to fire. That was the difference between 84 miles an hour and getting into the low nineties. If you want the full guide on how we trained him to make that jump, comment guide and I’ll send it through.

If you’re scared to strikeout looking, Then you’re going to chase w/ 2 strikes more. You’re going to chase out of the zone out of FEAR I’ve learned from great coaches that their best hitters K more LOOKING than swinging SHRINK, not widen w/ 2 strikes LSU stresses this too

If doctors in 1950 could be catastrophically wrong about smoking, fat, and sugar while being completely confident in their recommendations... And doctors in 1980 could be catastrophically wrong about margarine, low-fat diets, and dietary cholesterol while being completely confident in their recommendations... And doctors in 2000 could be catastrophically wrong about opioids, hormone therapy, and Vioxx while being completely confident in their recommendations... Why would you assume doctors today, working in the same institutional structures with the same pharmaceutical funding and the same regulatory capture, have suddenly figured it all out? The system hasn't changed. The incentives haven't changed. The conflicts of interest haven't changed. Only your willingness to believe them has.

Every HS coach..Make sure u do signing day/ commitments just as big for JUCO/D2/D3/NAIA guys, as you did the D1 guys It’s harder now to get those smaller school offers bc 95% of HS kids/portal guys are competing for those Call media, blast it everywhere. Celebrate your players

I just spoke on the phone with Bill Polian and asked whether he was an influence on Bill Belichick being snubbed by the Hall of Fame. His quote: “That’s totally and categorically untrue. I voted for him."

This is what happens when you have a bunch of media people involved too deeply where they shouldn't be. It's obvious reading/watching any media publication that a 'bias' always exists...how the HOF players and former players during time frame aren't the majority of vote is crazy!

When shots are falling, the quick pace is great & life is good. When they aren't, all those quick shots might as well be turnovers. Up 15 to up 8 to down 1 to up 9. It's a flurry of emotions at times. When you have momentum, just pause & make defense work a little! @IUHoosiers
