One of the UK’s largest trade unions - with a majority female membership - is hosting a demonstration on Saturday. In support of men using women’s changing rooms. Organised by UNISON Southwark, the demonstration will take place outside a council gym in Southwark, south London, where a woman was banned last month - after objecting to a man using the female changing rooms. The man stated that he was female and was permitted to continue using the women’s facilities. The woman who raised the concern was banned from the gym entirely. UNISON represents workers across sectors including healthcare, local government, education, social care and public services - industries where safeguarding, privacy, and risk management are not abstract concepts but daily responsibilities. Around 75% of Unison’s members are women. There are clear parallels with the Sandie Peggie case and the Darlington nurses dispute, where women were disciplined for objecting to a male colleague using their workplace changing rooms. That a female-dominated union is mobilising against women who object to mixed-sex changing rooms would be funny - if it weren’t happening in real life.

Just had to do the hardest thing and say goodbye to my beloved Skye. She was 16 years and 9 months and had a very good life. The last few days she just looked unhappy and struggled with her legs, she was almost blind and had dementia. Today we realised it was time. The vet was great and she felt no fear she went so peacefully and knew how much we loved her. My heart is broken but I have wonderful memories to hold onto and for her I’m glad we didn’t let her suffer on. Took her to see the water for one last look before we had to let her go to rainbow 🌈 bridge💔

Single Sex Spaces Fair comment by JK Rowling. Unison members are 70% female yet the union is taking the side of men trying to invade single sex spaces intended for women - in this case a changing area for female employees! Men who self-ID as women are still men, of course.

For those that do not know, I have a Siamese twin. He has four legs, a black nose and is a Westie. Yes he is spoiled, yes he is mine and yes I never have five seconds to myself. He has a dog seat, goes with me to the office. If I have to go to court he attends doggie day care. Every restaurant in my town knows him, he gets invited in to eat. He is loved at McDonald’s for breakfast, they know him at the bank and his ‘girlfriend’ works at Walgreens. He can con her out of a steak. I have been working on his conduct and I’m embarrassed to report, despite my best efforts, my dog is a grifter; He lives off the good will of other people. I will continue my to do my best to make sure his ‘grift’ is managed. Yes he gets everything he wants. Do you want to say “no”

FIH President Tayyab Ikram said: "I think it is wise for us not to proceed with this trial, because we must protect the original characteristics of the penalty corner. Athlete safety must not be compromised, but the penalty corner is such an integral and iconic part of our game that we must be very considerate and careful when we explore changes to it. Therefore, I have initiated a re-evaluation and further evaluation to design a trial that will protect the original form of the penalty corner, while we also continue to work on enhancing athlete safety in our game and especially in the penalty corner situation."
