Jason Kenney seems completely ignorant of the fact that US Statehood is a function of the US Congress and Senate. It requires a joint resolution of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Democrats in the Senate would filibuster Alberta Statehood as they would not agree to another Republican State.
Further only the smallest minority of the Alberta Independence Movement support US Statehood.
Let’s not let facts get in the way of a good phoney fake news narrative.
