Year after year we are the cheapest UK NHS practice in the area in terms of the cost of drugs for diabetes. Saving over half a million Dollars or £388,000 to date on nationally collected data (thanks to openprescribing.net ) We do this by helping our patients avoid food that puts up blood sugar INSTEAD of using drugs 👍

I can’t get an appt with a GP? Yet there are 1000s of GPs out of work or struggling to find work @NHSEngland have cut the equivalent of 2 full-time GPs in funding from an average practice, whilst funding ‘additional’ roles via ARRS Not additional then🤷🏻‍♂️

@ronansetron I guess the average Joe working in a chicken factory overnight doesn't get the chance to sleep. You can understand the anger even if it is misplaced.

this “doctors shouldn’t SLEEP on a night shift they should be WORKING!!!!11” attitude needs to die if you wanna pay me for all the unpaid work I do outside my 48h/week: teaching, audit, research, study for mandatory exams, coursework, then fine, I’ll spend all my shift working!

@Whotfismick I'd build a raised mezzanine from galvanised square steel and bolts I borrowed from my aunt.

Almost midnight... Struggling to Sleep? Here’s Your Ultimate Guide to a Restful Night. 1. Create Your Sleep Sanctuary: 🛏️ -Ditch the Devices:📱➡️🚪 Plug your phone in a different room. - Perfect the Ambiance:🌙 Ensure your space is dark, quiet, and at a comfortable temperature. - Comfort is Key:🛌 Use comfortable pillows and bedding, and wear loose clothing like pyjamas or a nightgown. - Warm & Dim Lighting: 💡 Ensure any light in the room is soft and warm. 2. Brain Dump Before Bed: 📝 - Write it Down: List everything on your mind – tasks, worries, shopping – and create a checklist for tomorrow. This clears mental clutter and prepares you for sleep. 3. Body Relaxation Technique: 🧘 - Sink In:Lay down and relax your body, feeling yourself sink into your pillow and mattress. - Progressive Relaxation: Start from your feet and work up to your head, picturing each body part relaxing and noting any sensations. 4. Mindfulness with Thoughts: 💭 - Observe Thoughts: Notice any thoughts that pop into your head. Just observe them without judgement or response. Let each thought pass and be replaced by another. 5. Breathing Focus: 🌬️ - Slow & Steady: Breathe slowly, noticing the air moving through your nose and mouth and feeling your chest expand with each breath. 6. Consistency is Crucial: 🔄 - Practice Nightly: The more you practice, the easier it becomes. Consider using guided body scans from YouTube or Spotify to aid relaxation. Remember: Developing good sleep habits takes time, but with consistency, you’ll find yourself drifting off more easily. Sweet dreams! 🌛😌

@DoctorMayJay Because any surgeon willing to spend their career doing 20+ Lasiks a day cares more about money than how super cool they'd look without glasses.

@DrNeenaJha I think everyone should take time out for themselves from time to time. There is *so* much more to life than work, or even being a doctor.

Time to hang up my stethoscope for a little while… Moving to Vancouver for a 3 month sabbatical due to husband’s fellowship Battled the guilt of not working for 3 months but tbh, I’m done & need a break. Hadn’t realised how much of a toll working frontline during the pandemic had taken & not had a chance to stop since Ready to hang up the doctor hat for a bit & just focus on just being a Mum to my little boys Here’s to a new adventure! ✈️

@DRIISYD @DrEilidhMaria A fully qualified GP would be more efficient. But whoever controls the money decided they don't want to do that.

@dr_jepson @DrEilidhMaria How thorough is your debrief with that PA? How much of your de briefing slots are actually being utilised to catch up from your own busy clinic? Would you want a fully qualify GP instead?

@dr_jepson @DrEilidhMaria Yes Paul, you're such an excellent advocate for junior doctors and so understanding too! If this is really your level of understanding towards the circumstances of others then I truly pity the F2s at your practice. x.com/dr_jepson/stat…
Dr Paul Jepson@dr_jepson

@DrOKaneAgain It's true that things have changed rapidly in recent years, but on that third point, if you're not willing to work anywhere in the country then you shouldn't really apply to do medicine.

@dr_jepson @DrEilidhMaria The F2 may however be a future GP. And if not, if nothing else you have helped a future secondary care colleague to better understand your role, which GPs frequently complain that we don't.

@drsorchahume @DrEilidhMaria Well, ok you got me there. We can't *know*. But we do know the exact date that our F2s will leave. Our F2s get four patients per session and we get three slots blocked out to supervise.

@dr_jepson @DrEilidhMaria You know she won't leave, how so? Imagine if doctors in training were given the same opportunities and GP time. FY2s are not in your practice for four months to fill a gap, they are there to learn, as you did in your FY rotations. That breadth of experience is invaluable.

@Megsenmumdr @DrEilidhMaria Her kids have just started at the local school and she owns nearby. But you're right it's no guarantee. However, we know for sure that our F2s will leave. Our F2s aren't used for service provision. They get 4 patients per session.
