It is with deep sadness and regret that I inform you of the death of our brilliant Fleur, who passed peacefully in the night on 9 May 2024, following 13 months battling cancer. I will read out any well wishes to the rest of the family ❤️ Ngā Mihi, Harry (Fleur’s son)

This is just sad. A cold-hard fact: The overwhelming majority of students who can do the work at top colleges won't get in to their top choices - because there are not enough slots. But they've been convinced getting one of those rare slots is the only way to be successful. 1/

Yesterday, long day in clinic providing healthcare, teaching future healthworkers and contributing to health equity research. When I ❤️ mahi. Last night, read the anti-hauora agenda. When mahi is 💔. Today we plan, tomorrow we stand #MAPAS #whatwedo #desiredoutcomes

@The_KorOcle @maxine_ronald Is there scientific evidence for this Koro? If so, I'm happy to delete the tweet as I only wish to be helpful. My anecdotal experience is that there are many people (on both sides) whose voices are being silenced, and a simple anonymous twitter poll allows them to speak.

Should race be included as an additional criteria to help determine priority on surgical waiting lists in Australia + NZ? (Note: responses are anonymous).

Luxon is wrong. Ethnicity is relevant to health prioritisation. Māori women with breast cancer who live in a high decile have the same outcomes as those who live in a low decile area. Wealth is not protective for Māori. Ethnicity is an independent risk factor for health outcomes

Sometimes when I see babies in clinic, I like to gaze at their little squidgy faces to imagine what they might look like as grown ups. My mum, a GP, once told me she loved seeing babies because she gets the impression of a big person in there, beneath the wiggling onesie
