@southstarbrew @Becs There's a series called Firebite about zombies in the outback. Strong Indigenous cast and storyline, absolutely an underrated classic (of Indigenous and zombie genres).

@Becs Gif was just a little window dressing, tweet inspired by real life Australians in 2026. I do love The Castle although not sure I agree with your wider conjecture about the quality of films.

It's funny at a certain level Australia is a bigger badder harder more grimy place than NZ but then it is also a place where people publicly and un-ironically refer to their partners as "hubby" and "wifey".

@MrHilariouskiwi @GutterTwits $18.50 for a 'pint' of Emerson's Bookbinder 2 weeks ago in Wellington (St. John's bar). Would normally have 2 (it's 3.7%) but $37 for 2 beers??! Nah.

@RusselNorman - is there any way NZ can build up its own fertiliser/compost supply to replace imports?? If so how, & how long would it take to get sufficent supply?

@BenThomasNZ @sootytweet Draft legislation continues advisory roles for Māori. Govt pathologically opposed to Māori being in decision-making roles even when its literally life and death.

@sootytweet Yep this is the same thing. Idk about reimbursement pre Gabrielle. On the point about being included in CD planning- doesn’t that make sense? I’d think the golf club should be too ideally. re say funding a generator, that makes prima facie sense for a known hub in an emergencies?

I've done a deep dive into the original project of playing whale sounds to sick kauri trees. I'll post on it later, but for now, know this: it was based on Maori legends -whales and kauri trees were "brothers", from a time when whales walked the land. Yep, over 4 million dollars of taxpayer's money was spent by academics from learning institutions on the idea that whales once had legs, and trees currently have ears. Let that sink in.. #nzpol

10 April 2016. Welsh-born Howard Marks died (aged 70). After his release from prison, on a charge of drug dealing, he wrote a best selling autobiography called Mr Nice which was turned into a film. He also campaigned for the legalisation of cannabis.

@NMowbray23 What a blithering idiot. How do you look at the country's balance sheet and decide that the problem is Govt debt? That little pink stub on the left, which is easily overpowered by the financial assets held by the very same Govt?

@BenThomasNZ Marae fill a gap that should not have to be filled. I know of one that was asked by authorities (who are funded for this) to house homeless people during a recent emergency.

Marae are emergency shelters, not because of wokeness or (non-existent) govt funding or policy, but bc they voluntarily open their doors & pantries to local communities without being asked in disasters (thru earthquakes, terrorism, flooding) - ur free not to take up the offer
Malakai ™️@saltyreigns

Marae’s are not appropriate emergency shelters. We are not all maori and many people would feel uncomfortable going to a marae. Schools and town halls need to be set up as emergency shelters like they are in most developed countries. This is not new and not unreasonable.
