IMPORTANT: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh (Dera Sacha Sauda chief) granted parole once again, this time for 30 days. It’s the 16th time he has been out on parole since his conviction in August 2017. He is serving a 20-year sentence for rape. Meanwhile likes of Umar Khaled have stayed in jail for almost 6 years without even a trial commencing. Yeh hai JUSTICE system: Wonder what our Lordships would pontificate on next! 🙏

@CommanMan777589 A closed-minded person like you likely holds such views. For you, sex is taboo, and most men in India fall into this category. It’s not surprising. Illiteracy is disguised as culture. 😀

Thread On @Akshat_World and a pattern worth noticing: 1. I've been watching @Akshat_World's content shift dramatically over the past year. Let me lay out what I see and you decide. 2. First, the timeline: He moved a significant portion of his portfolio away from Indian markets. Shortly after? His content about India turned sharply negative. Coincidence? Maybe. But let's look at the pattern. 3. "Indian Financial System Designed to Keep You Poor?" "Why I Left India." "None of the governments care, citizens are brainwashed." Every headline is engineered for outrage. But where's the equivalent content on US debt levels, Trump-era economic volatility, or the markets he currently holds? 4. This is a known playbook: Move your money. Then move your audience's sentiment. Then sell them courses, calls, or paid subscriptions on your new picks. It's not analysis. It's marketing with a patriotism-shaped hole in it. 5. The "guru" model is simple: Post dramatic numbers about your own gains. Build distrust in everything else. Position yourself as the only reliable guide. Charge for access. Ask yourself — if his stock picks were printing money, why is the course the product? 6. Criticism of India's systems is fair and necessary. But selective outrage — amplifying every Indian flaw while staying silent on his preferred markets — isn't criticism. It's a sales funnel. 7. You're free to follow whoever you want. Just know what you're buying — and whether it's advice, or an audience being herded toward someone's portfolio. Do your own research. Always. 🙏

@Nithin0dha That’s why I was never able to get into Zerodha, despite loving the concept and product purchase methods. #wio bank in #uae. If you can think a seamless way of transacting, that should be the goal. Else why even consider the Indian market given the depreciation of the rupee?

One thing that feels under-discussed in all the conversations about attracting foreign capital into India is the Indian diaspora. There is a large population of NRIs who are emotionally and financially interested in investing in India. But today, for many of them, the process of opening accounts, completing documentation, and actually investing in Indian markets is still far more painful than it needs to be. Making life easier for NRIs could be one of the lowest-hanging fruits for attracting long-term capital into India. This is something we’ve been focusing on heavily at @zerodha as well. Over the last year or so, we’ve made several changes to make investing as seamless as possible for NRIs. But there are still many frictions that exist because of regulatory and compliance requirements. Hopefully, SEBI and the government look at this more closely and think about how to make it easier for NRIs to bring money into India and participate in Indian markets. For a country trying to attract global capital, the Indian diaspora seems like the most obvious place to start.

Jawaharlal Nehru spent years speaking about food shortages as India’s biggest crisis… and yet, Congress only offered lectures, not solutions. “Skip rice.” “Miss meals.” “Tighten belts.” “Don’t organise feasts.” And when the crisis deepened? Blame businessmen. Blame hoarders. Blame Partition. Blame Korea. Blame “talk in America.” But when did Congress ever blame its own failed policies? While millions faced rationing, scarcity, and hunger, India remained dependent on foreign food aid. Instead of building a self-reliant system, the Congress kept asking citizens to consume less, because it could not provide more. No one is talking about that fact that: US has quietly become a Global Energy Superpower. Why would it go annex Venezuela, fight Iran war, have LATAM countries in its back pocket? Well, to control energy. Who will it sell it to? Ding, ding, ding....India. India becomes a US colony that would simply consume energy from the US. Enough indications are already there, given how foreign relations are developing. If the economic war in the next decade is about AI/Tech. We need energy to support it. India will import both its tech + energy from the US. At this stage it is fairly obvious: we have no energy/tech sovereignty. And, this difference will only compound. See the writing on the wall. And, restructure your portfolios. Diversification is not buying 5 mutual funds. Diversification is ability to handle geopolitical events that will shape your next decade.

I don't know whether you remember. I was one among the first to repeatedly raise to government existence of both STT and long term capital gains are terribly unfair for investors. This goes against the commitment given in the parliament that STT was introduced only in lieu of capital gains tax. More than domestic investors, this hurts FIIs more. Adding salt to the injury, long term capital gains were further increased in 2024. I would have posted dozens of tweets in this regard tagging both Prime Minister and Finance Minister. As always, BJP IT cell started personally attacking me that I don't want to pay taxes. How many ever times I explained the logic, that many times or more I was personally ridiculed. For many reasons including our government apathy, FIIs are only net sellers for last many years. In parliament, we ridiculed FIIs stating that retail investors are good enough for us and FIIs are exiting a great market called India. I pointed out how even countries like Singapore and other developed nations give importance to FII money. BJP trolls said FIIs are losing opportunity to make money out of the greatest market in the world. Even if we are greatest, this arrogance is unwarranted. Arrogance would ensure we don't remain great. Now we are trying to see how to conserve forex by avoiding destination weddings, foreign vacations and so on. The elephant in the room is billions of dollars flowing out of the country every month due to FII selling. Instead of trying to address that major issue, we are focusing on overseas trips by a small percentage of Indians. Misplaced priorities. Our finance minister still do not the feel the need to call FIIs for an open meeting and address their tax issues and other concerns. We are absolutely tone deaf.

Then we expect market to perform, 20% salary growth & 15 Lakh in each account. Yeah sounds about right.

The kid needs to learn how to put himself to sleep as this is an important life skill. And the marital bed is the marital bed. Kids don’t belong there.
Anish Moonka@anishmoonka

A kid drew himself sleeping in bed between mom and dad and labeled it 'safe.' In Japan, this exact sleeping arrangement has a name. They call it 'the river.' Mother is one bank. Father is the other. The child between them is the water. Roughly 70% of Japanese mothers sleep this way with their kids, sometimes through the teenage years. The Western model of putting a kid alone in their own bedroom is barely 200 years old. For most of human history, in most cultures still alive today, kids slept beside their parents. James McKenna runs the Mother-Baby Behavioral Sleep Lab at Notre Dame. He spent decades watching what happens when parents and kids share a bed. The bodies sync up. Heart rates align with the parent's, breathing falls into the same rhythm, and by morning even sleep stages have started matching. The parent's body, in McKenna's words, acts as a kind of biological jumper cable for the child's. In 2013, researchers in the Netherlands tracked 193 babies through the first year of life. They measured cortisol, the brain's main stress hormone. Babies who had spent more weeks co-sleeping in the first six months produced less cortisol under stress at 12 months. Sleeping near a parent had rewired the kid's stress system to be calmer under pressure. Inside the kid's brain at night, the amygdala, the fear alarm, gets more sensitive as the body gets tired. Darkness makes it worse. A 2021 paper in PLoS One from Australian researchers showed that light directly suppresses amygdala activity. Lights off, alarm louder. The whole brain is wired to read 'alone in a dark room' as a threat. Now add a parent's body to that bed. The kid's nervous system reads warm body, breathing nearby, familiar smell. The threat alarm dials down. Two parents on either side dial it down twice. The drawing is the kid's brain calculating maximum safety: I am surrounded by the people who keep me alive, and nothing can reach me without going through them first. The arrangement in this drawing is what most of human history called 'sleeping.' Sleeping the kid alone in another room is a 200-year-old Western invention that we forgot was an invention. Every kid who has ever padded into your room at 3am and crawled into the middle of the bed is just trying to redraw the picture.

Why Did Sridhar Vembu Really Come to India? The story you've been sold: A billionaire tech entrepreneur renounces Silicon Valley, returns to a Tamil Nadu village, lives simply, cycles to work, talks about dharma and reversing brain drain. Simple living, high thinking. A saint in a cotton shirt. The story the California courts tell: He moved to India in late 2019. Filed for divorce in 2021. In between, he transferred ownership of Zoho's US subsidiary to entities controlled by his associate Tony Thomas and his sister Radha Vembu, who now holds an estimated 47.8% stake in the company, without his wife's knowledge or consent. A California court didn't mince words. It found that Vembu had acted "without regard for respondent's interests in community assets and without regard for the law." It ordered him to post a $1.7 billion bond. Unprecedented, the court itself said. His wife Pramila Srinivasan, who by her own account supported the household in Zoho's early years and was kept in the dark about the ownership restructuring, is still fighting the case in California. Their son, who has autism and requires lifelong care, lives with her in the Bay Area. He is 26 years old. Vembu left him behind. The move to rural India wasn't a philosophical act. It was a jurisdictional one. California's community property law requires marital assets to be split equally in a divorce. The solution, apparently, was to move the assets and himself out of California's reach before the divorce became formal. The village was the alibi. The dharma was the disguise. This is the conclusion the evidence points to. The trial is not yet concluded and Vembu has denied all allegations, calling them complete fiction. But the court, looking at the same evidence, found his explanations not credible. And then came the reward. The Modi government gave him the Padma Shri on January 26, 2021 and appointed him to the National Security Advisory Board just days later, in February 2021. The formal divorce filing came in August that year. The government honoured him while the marriage was already in ruins and the asset transfers were already underway. But the courts and the Padma Shri are almost secondary. The real villainy is what he did to millions of ordinary Indians who believed him. The man built an entire public persona on selflessness, on the idea that he had walked away from wealth and comfort for the sake of rural youth, for India, for something larger than himself. People quoted him. Teachers cited him. Young men from small towns looked up to him. It was a performance. Underneath the saint was a man who had abandoned his wife of nearly three decades, walked away from a son who needed him, moved a billion dollar empire out of legal reach, and dressed the whole operation up as enlightenment. That is the real story of why Sridhar Vembu came to India.

#WATCH | Delhi: Wife of Army Brigadier, Nitasha says, "On 11th April, around 9.45 PM, my husband and son went for a walk outside... They came back searching for his mobile and mentioned that two people were sitting in a Mercedes car and they were consuming alcohol. My husband and son tried to explain to them that this is a respectable society, and you are not supposed to do this. They started using abusive language and passing certain illicit comments, as I was also there. We called the PCR vehicle... The cop came, and he was about to take my statement. This individual, who was in the driving seat, made him speak on his mobile to someone. The cop came back, and he refused to write my statement... 7-8 goons came out from a cab, and started assaulting both my son and my husband. I went back to the cop who was sitting in the PCR van, requesting him for some assistance. But he refused... At around 10.45 PM, we went to the Vasant Vihar police station. There was a lady cop there who misbehaved with us, saying that we troubled them in the night... The PCR cop had reported to the police station the wrong vehicle number... We were not provided any medical assistance. Finally, we were able to give a written complaint to them at 2.13 AM..."
