The Family: A Proclamation to the World is more than a statement of eternal truths. It is a clear prophetic warning and a specific call to action. The last two paragraphs seem to be the most forgotten and dismissed, but there are and will be devastating consequences for individuals, communities, and entire nations if God's commandments are ignored and violated. What are we to do? We are to promote and uphold the traditional family, in our individual lives and within our governments. The family proclamation was ahead of its time. How have we responded, and where do we currently stand?

I've waited a few days to say anything about the recent Department of War (DoW) decision to not list The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Christian religion. I wanted to make sure my opinion wasn't being driven by an emotional response. I think it's a good thing. Initially, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was listed as a Protestant Christian religion when it was recognized by the US Military. The way that religions are listed have a few second and third order of effects, specifically manning requirements for Chaplains and Chaplain assistants across the force. When The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was listed as a Protestant Christian religion then, from the DoW standpoint, any Protestant Chaplain can meet the religious needs of LDS Service members. When it comes to manning requirements, an LDS Chaplain and a Protestant Chaplain become interchangeable, meaning that if an LDS service member is in an area that has the required number of Protestant Chaplains then there is no need and potentially no positions for LDS Chaplains at that location. Even if the majority of Christian-affiliated service members are LDS, as far as the DoW is concerned, their religious needs are being met by the Chaplains already assigned to that location. Listing the LDS Church as a non-Christian religion means that the DoW now needs to ensure that they have a minimum number of LDS Chaplains among their ranks to meet specific religious needs. This opens up opportunities for promotion and advancement for LDS Chaplains currently serving, as well as a potential increased need for LDS Chaplains across the force. Plus, and this is my opinion, Church leadership probably also had a say in how the LDS Church was listed by the DoW. The Government would have consulted Salt Lake, just like they would have consulted the Vatican and major Protestant associations, in ensuring their religion was accurately listed with the DoW. Otherwise it opens the government and DoW to lawsuits related to religious freedoms.

It’s probably time to stop being surprised that people don’t think we’re Christian. We know we are, and Jesus knows we are. Nothing else really matters.

Discussing abortion as if it’s the right of a mother is the wrong conversation. I’d like to tell you a story about how I became “pro life” If you’re not an active pro abortionist & are passively pro choice, hopefully, this post is for you. Growing up I was passively pro choice. I knew it was never going to be for me, but I believed the hype that it doesn’t affect me, so it’s not my fight. My mind was drastically changed in 2020. I married my lovely wife Ashley in 2019. We decided to have our first child together right away. It took a couple months but eventually we got it right. At the beginning of the “pandemic” we were delighted to find out my wife was carrying our daughter, Rylianne. 7 months in, my wife wasn’t feeling good. She felt pain all around her body when she was moving around. She was struggling to use the restroom & she rapidly gained a bunch of weight. She drove herself to the hospital & I met her there. They quickly brought her in, checked her blood pressure 250/150. That’s… really high. The nurse pulled out the Ultra sound gear, and put it to her belly. Silence…..is all we heard. For minutes that felt like an eternity, she searched for the heartbeat of our daughter to no avail. I’ll never forget the look Ash gave me. It was a hopeless plea, as if I could reassure her… tell her everything will be ok, that our daughter is fine. We sat there, holding hands, coming to grips with the fact that we had lost our daughter. There was nothing I could do to help. Turns out Ash developed HELLP syndrome, the advanced stage of pre eclampsia. Days later after the Dr’s stabilized Ash, she gave birth to our stillborn daughter. We held her, told her we loved her, and that we’ll see her in the next life. The wound in my heart created that day may never heal. To this day it still hurts, but I have learned to deal with the pain. My point in telling you this is that I know my daughter was alive. She kicked, she listened, and for the short time she was here on this earth, she felt the love and warmth from my wife while residing in her womb. I can now, never deny the humanity of those residing in the womb. The zinc spark at fertilization, is the first sign of life we can detect. I believe that’s when we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights that we, as a good and moral people, should absolutely recognize. They’re humans, and we should treat them as such, because not all of us can make it long enough to withstand the world outside the womb. Since the 1960’s when abortions have become legal, over 3,000 babies are terminated daily. A genocide that we can’t see, that we can’t hear because the crying souls of the babies have no ability to speak for themselves. Somebody should. We should. For a happy ending to this dreadful story, my wife and I were able to try again. We were blessed to be granted the ability & opportunity to have another child, & I thank God everyday for that. Raylan was born in 2022. Ash once again developed HELLP syndrome but this time, we caught it. Raylan was born a bit early but at 5lbs 5oz & healthy, we couldn’t be happier. The only way to change this debate about pro choice or pro life, is to recognize when human rights begin, and it begins at fertilization. That’s when we should recognize the right to life we all enjoy today. That’s the only way to save 3,000 American lives that get aborted daily. The Eternal Saints Endorses Karianne Lisonbee For Congress In 2024, I met Blake Moore as a first-time state delegate to the Utah GOP convention. One line from that meeting has stayed with me ever since. “I don’t want to waste time campaigning in Utah. I want to be out around the country campaigning for other Republicans.” He meant it as a selling point. I took it as a confession. A congressman who views campaigning in Utah as wasted time has already told you how he sees the seat. The district becomes a platform. The voters become an interruption. Accountability becomes an inconvenience between national obligations. Moore survived that cycle. Paul Miller beat him among convention delegates, but Moore won the primary. This year, the warning lights are brighter. Karianne Lisonbee defeated Moore at convention with 61.5 percent of the delegate vote. Moore received 33.7 percent and reached the primary through signatures. That is the legal process. It is also the reason this race is so important. Delegates did their job. They heard the candidates, weighed the record, and chose Lisonbee by a wide margin. The voters now get the final word. Lisonbee earns this endorsement on her own merits. She is a ten-year veteran of the Utah Legislature, a former chair of the House Judiciary Committee, and someone who understands the actual work of lawmaking. She reads bills. She knows where power hides in language. She has taken hard votes under pressure and held her ground when lobbyists wanted her to fold. Her record is clear where it needs to be clear. She is pro-life. She defends the Second Amendment. She has spoken directly about election integrity, immigration enforcement, parental rights, federal land policy, housing pressure, and the surveillance state. When Congress deadlocked on whether intelligence agencies should need a warrant before searching information involving Americans under FISA, Moore opposed the warrant amendment. Lisonbee said plainly that she would not have done that. That is the difference between managed conservatism and constitutional instinct. I have listened to Lisonbee in small rooms with delegates. She does not sound like someone reciting a consultant’s memo. She talks like someone who has spent years dealing with the same pressures Utah families are dealing with now. Growth that feels forced. Housing that is slipping out of reach. Federal land decisions that shape local life from a distance. Taxpayer-funded messaging campaigns telling Utahns how to think about their own communities. And Hill Air Force Base, whose strength is critical to northern Utah’s economy and should be treated as a priority in Washington. I also covered several of Moore’s delegate meetings, and the pattern was impossible to miss. Delegates asked about Utah. Moore answered from Washington. They asked about consequences here. He widened the frame. They asked about representation. He explained systems. At one point, he told the room he would be financially fine and that he did not need this job. He said it more than once. Nobody had asked whether Blake Moore would be okay. They were asking whether they were being represented. That gap has defined his relationship with delegates for years. Karianne Lisonbee does not have that gap. She lives in the district. She raised her six children here. Half of her grandchildren live here. She understands northern Utah as a home, not a résumé line. She told delegates she does not want a career in Congress. She wants to serve, sacrifice, and make hard decisions for Utah. I believe her. The Eternal Saints endorses Karianne Lisonbee for Utah’s Second Congressional District.
