Rep. Muktar Shagaya @MuktarShagaya Wins APC Primary in Landslide Victory
Hon. Muktar Shagaya, the incumbent Member of the House of Representatives for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for a second term after winning today’s primary election by a wide margin.
Shagaya dominated the direct primaries held across all 29 wards of the constituency. He polled 77,625 votes in total, according to the official APC collation sheets from all voting centres.
In Asa Local Government Area, Shagaya received 27,283 votes across the 17 wards. His closest challenger, Yakub Amasa Yusuf, polled 5,746 votes, followed by Qs. Muhammed Kabir Olayiwola with 1,411 votes, and Mopelola Risikatullahi AbdulMalik with 623 votes.
His lead widened further in Ilorin West, where he garnered 50,342 votes. Yakub Amasa Yusuf recorded 598 votes, Muhammed Kabir Olayiwola polled 76 votes, and Mopelola Risikatullahi Abdulmalik received no votes.
Party members attribute the decisive outcome to Shagaya’s performance since assuming office.
“His work in the House of Representatives is why members voted for him so overwhelmingly. This result shows constituents are satisfied with his representation,” a party official said.
Shagaya’s record includes legislative achievements, youth and women empowerment programs, and development projects across both Ilorin West and Asa local government areas.

@Optimistic_Ade This is the bitter truth some of our people from central don't want to accept

One of the undoings of Sen. Bukola Saraki, as a political godfather in Kwara State, is because he failed to fulfil the promise of zoning he made to the people of Kwara North in 2019.
Before you argue, go and look at the 2019 election results, specifically, the results from Kwara North.
Now, look at what has been helping President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos. The political class made many demands from Tinubu in Lagos, and he fulfilled all of them.
A leader must be able to listen and be a man of his words.
We are going to Kwara North.

Kwara Secures Strategic Spot in $500m FG Hydropower, Irrigation Project
Kwara State has emerged as one of the key beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s $500 million Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria (SPIN) Project, following its successful fulfilment of all participation requirements.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, who represented the state at the official launch in Abuja recently, expressed satisfaction with the state’s inclusion.
The Commissioner described the development as a clear reflection of Kwara’s preparedness and strong commitment to sustainable development in both the water resources and agricultural sectors.
Hon. Lade disclosed that Kwara’s qualification was achieved through deliberate and strategic actions by the state government, noting that the payment of counterpart funds, the establishment of a solid legal framework through the Water Users Association (WUA) Law and the provision of a viable irrigation site covering approximately 3,000 hectares were key factors in securing the state’s qualification
In a significant boost to the state’s early participation, he further revealed that the Duku-Lade Irrigation Scheme has been selected as one of the pilot projects under the SPIN initiative, adding that this positions Kwara at the forefront of implementation.
According to him, “The project aligns with the vision of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to strengthen irrigation systems, enhance agricultural productivity, support farmers and ensure long-term food security across the state.”
The Commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maximising the opportunities presented by the initiative through sustained collaboration with federal authorities and development partners.
The SPIN Project, launched by the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, is supported by the World Bank and aims to modernise irrigation infrastructure, improve dam safety and integrate hydropower generation to support Nigeria’s energy and agricultural needs.
The initiative is also expected to reduce dependence on rainfall by promoting year-round farming and strengthening water resource management across participating states.

Asst. Press Secretary,
