If you make coding projects, product walkthroughs, tutorials, YouTube content, or demo videos, you have probably hit the same wall:
Raw screen recordings look amateur.
Cursors jitter. Clicks have no emphasis. Backgrounds are ugly. Zooms have to be added in post.
The standard fix is Screen Studio. $29 per month. $108 per year. Or $299 for a "lifetime" license that only includes 1 year of free updates.
Mac-only. No Windows. No Linux.
Now meet Recordly.
A free and open source screen recorder and editor for polished demos, walkthroughs, and product videos.
11,000+ stars in 7 weeks. AGPL-3.0. Mac, Windows, and Linux. No subscription. No paywall.
Here is what Recordly does:
→ Auto-zooms on cursor activity, so you don't manually mark zoom regions
→ Smooths cursor movement, adds click bounce, motion blur, and sway
→ Drops your recording into a styled frame with wallpapers, gradients, padding, blur, and shadows
→ Webcam bubble overlay with custom positions, mirroring, roundness, and zoom-reactive scaling
→ Drag-and-drop timeline with trims, speed regions, annotations, audio regions, and crop edits
→ MP4 and GIF export with quality presets, frame-rate control, and aspect ratio options
→ Native capture on macOS (ScreenCaptureKit) and Windows (Windows Graphics Capture + WASAPI)
→ Saves projects as `.recordly` files so you can reopen and re-edit
→ Extension marketplace for cursor click sounds, device frames, browser mockups, wallpapers
→ Customizable keyboard shortcuts and in-app shortcut reference
Here is what Recordly costs:
Zero. Forever. Unlimited recordings. Unlimited exports. No watermarks.
Here is the wildest part:
This repo is 7 weeks old.
Created on March 12, 2026. Already at 11,275 stars and 817 forks. The README is in English and Simplified Chinese. The marketplace is already live with community extensions.
Most "Screen Studio alternatives" are Mac-only forks or web-based screen recorders that upload your video to someone else's server.
Recordly runs on your machine. Records on your machine. Edits on your machine. Exports on your machine.
Your screen. Your recordings. Your machine.
100% Open Source.

We had such an embarrassment of riches when it comes to motion graphics on this project. @raoulmarks and @antibodytv and Bungies very own @elliottgray and the entire UI visual design team to name a few

I guess a lot of git hubs look like this these days

Love Kiro but still use a specialized IDE for different workflows?
Good news - Kiro CLI now supports Agent Client Protocol (ACP), allowing you to use Kiro agents in any of your preferred ACP compatible IDEs.

i've been using it for all my work for the past 24 hours and i don't see much of a difference from opus
maybe opus is a bit smarter but this guy is so fast and so cheap
and we're probably going to drop our prices even further

@warpdotdev @OpenAIDevs Wait, can I connect my OpenAI account to use my account and limits in Warp, or is this just an announcement about the Codex model being added to Warp? It's just confusing...
English

Excited to partner with OpenAI to make it easier to set up GPT-5.2 Codex as your default coding agent.
We worked closely with the @OpenAIDevs team to tune our harness for long-running coding tasks with Codex.
Head to openai.com/codex to get started 🙌

@Abhinavstwt Lol, I use it daily, one of the most pleasant IDEs with a good quota on Opus 4.5.
