Good Morning Britain
Today, we'll learn if a national screening programme for prostate cancer could soon become a reality, as a key group of scientists reveal their assessment of how successful a full-scale rollout could be in detecting early cases of the disease. 1 in 8 males will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. But there's speculation in The Times that experts could reject the idea. @dranitaraja with more on this.

Agree with Dr Raja here, as 'white coat syndrome' so to speak, is very real. It could make anxiety much worse, for those already going through a tough time. This Labour government is choosing to do this, rather than tackle high private rents, costing billions. Think about that.

Specialist “job advisers” will be placed in GPs' surgeries in England as part of a plan to try and get 300,000 long-term sick or disabled people into work by 2030. But will this put people who need medical treatment off seeing their GP? NHS GP Dr Anita Raja and Labour activist and Former Councillor Kevin Craig debate.

Today on GMB debating along side @KevinCraigUK on @GMB with phenomenal @edballs & @kategarraway Emphasising that this seems yet another unfunded administrative overload for GP surgeries. Job advisors are best suited in job centres.
Kevin Craig@KevinCraigUK

Providing access to specialist job advisers in GP surgeries is all about giving people a hand-up, not a hand out - as @PatMcFaddenMP rightly says. It’s what @UKLabour is all about. The value of work is so important to physical health, mental health and general wellbeing. A good, spirited discussion with @DrAnitaRaja, @EdBalls and @KateGarraway on GMB this morning.

@ProfKarolSikora If I were in your shoes I would feel the same! Clearly out of touch with the current world living on a completely different dimension where tuition fee and student accommodation was “FREE”.

Doctor strikes going ahead. A poor decision. I have never striked for a single minute in my fifty plus year career in medicine, and I never will.

Medicine in the UK in 2025. Doctors unemployed, asking if they can pick up jobs as nurses or paramedics. Any plans to address the unprecedented doctor unemployment we are about to see this August @wesstreeting?

This is the question I think all resident doctors should remember. 1. Colleges dictate *very* high standards for medical trainees 2. They then have developed roles specifically designed to replace their labour, without the standards All done without buyin/consent from residents.
Ollie Burton@ollieburtonmed

@LittlePersonDoc @Shr_Nottingham How selfish of the residents! The temerity of doing medical school and umpteen mandated rotations for years to meet College standards, to have the College develop a model specifically designed to oust them, and the bosses facilitate it too. They had it coming.

Five years ago, I stood outside in the spring air - masked, alone, and terrified. There were no crowds. No chants. Just me and a sign in my hands. What I didn’t know then was that this one act of courage would change everything 🧵
