Cowboy traders caught fleecing frail woman 83 out of £30,000 by posing as workmen to fix her roof And £880,000 from 11 venerable elderly victims over 2 years Charlie Lee aged 57 and James Cunningham aged 41 posed as workmen and conned an 83 year old woman named Christine out of more than £30,000 pounds including an £18,000 pound cheque over five months in Aspley Nottingham by pressuring her to pay for shoddy or non existent roof repairs. The pair were part of a gang that swindled £880,000 pounds from 11 elderly victims using high pressure tactics and intimidation leaving them feeling unsafe in their own homes and under significant financial pressure. Hidden camera footage captured Cunningham telling Christine to say she was happy for the cheque to go through if her bank called and adding we need to keep this between ourselves Christine while they only replaced some mortar on her roof. Cunningham pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and six money laundering offences and was jailed for five years and 10 months while Lee admitted the conspiracy and was sentenced to three years and 10 months. Nottinghamshire Police Detective Constable Rich Evans said the group used relentless high pressure tactics and bled their victims dry of their hard earned savings without any remorse whatsoever.
