@kylejunlong @visakanv Gestalt Therapy! I opened up randomly to the chapter on introjection because I was writing an essay about the Frasier Greentext, and incidentally found a way out of the hell of being myself. I will post notes when I get from travels. Update me if you check the book out!

I never fully realized how much pressure I was under, as a kid, to pretend I was fine when I was not. I pretended inwardly as well as outwardly. because I internalized “It’s not okay to be visibly not okay” from my social environment. So I became invisible to myself.

I made great progress when I turned out the inner critic and found it was a jury of people I did not admire, and then I repopulated it with people I do. Then they weren’t a panel of jurors or even critics, but guiding mentors, rooting me on; we had a common purpose.

Only then can you be angry at yourself properly, repent properly
