As the first reanalysis data become available, I think I can say with a fairly high degree of confidence that the March 2026 heatwave will go down as the most anomalously extreme heat event ever observed at any time of year in the southwestern U.S.

A shrinking Colorado River is forcing farms to change: "If it wasn’t for that canal coming off the Colorado River, this would just turn to desert." @caitochs @highcountrynews hcn.org/issues/58-3/a-…

America's first large-scale indoor vertical farm for strawberries in Richmond, Virginia. Using 30-foot towers, it produces over 4 million pounds of strawberries annually on less than an acre of land. This innovative method reduces water use by 90%, land use by 97%, and eliminates the need for pesticides. We have so many solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy

Operation Epic Fury is now the most intense sustained air campaign since Desert Storm vs Iraq in 1991. ~1,000 sorties per day. But scale alone does not determine strategic outcome. The real question is structure of escalation. This thread is The Escalation Ledger -- Iran, Day 3

The Ayatollah's supposed successor is a Kantian philosopher. What have we wrought?

Chatted with a water resource economist at an event in California yesterday. The state’s water “shortage” really is one of the most unforced errors in policymaking. Key stats: - farmers use 80% of the developed water supply - residents use 20% - cities pay ~20x higher prices (!) for water than farmers (~$722/acre-foot vs ~$36/acre-foot) - some of the biggest agricultural districts in the state pay literally $0 for their water - meanwhile agriculture accounts for just ~2% of California’s economy It’s crazy that politicians tell residents to take shorter showers or get rid of their lawns instead of just charging farmers the market price for their water usage.
