A career in the NHS used to provide secure employment. Yet newly qualified staff are struggling to find jobs, whether that be doctors, nurses, physios, midwives or other roles. When the NHS is on its knees why are we training world-class staff to leave them unemployed?

Well said, @TYoungstein. Those of us with safety concerns around the role of PAs - now, finally, corroborated by Leng - were smeared as an irrational, toxic rabble. I think Chris Whitty owes doctors an apology. As do @RCPhysicians, @JimBethell et al.

I fundamentally believe we now need a national inquiry into how the PA project got to the stage it did where it caused so much harm
We need to hold the likes of @Jeremy_Hunt @AmandaPritchard @NavinaEvans @DacreJane @profjimspeaks @pa_StephenNash @ClareGerada @RCPhysicians et al accountable and they should be apologising to those whose families have suffered harm and to residents for ruining their careers

In 2023, @gmcuk awarded a four-year £2.8 million contract for private medical insurance (£700k per year) 💰 The tender documents show the actual spend on private medical insurance in 2022-23 was £642k for 1066 staff This is equivalent to 3690 x FY1 fees or 2006 x PA fees

A word of advice: don't. It will actually do far more harm to your cause than benefit since it is misleading and does not actually address any of the risks associated with PAs in primary care.

How can any course with lower entry requirements and shorter length lead to more knowledge?!
I was a teaching fellow & examined mock OSCEs with both groups - the difference was night & day
